I emailed my acceptance on May 8th and a few hours later I got a "thank you for your response" reply.

I got in too!!!! I had 306 points. I am so happy! What a relief!

YES!!! I am going crazy!! Last year they notified May 1 so I was SO hopeful that we would hear something tomorrow!

Congrats futurenurse346 and cassidyray00!! Unfortunately I did not get an offer from Lane, but I did not feel that my interview was very strong so I was not surprised. Good luck to you both, I'm sure you'll make excellent nurses! I am hoping I will get good news from Chemeketa next week. Chemeketa is my first choice because of location to where I live so perhaps I'm meant to be there :)

Good luck to you as well! One thing that struck me in the Lane interview (at least in my group) is that everyone mentioned extenuating factors (full time jobs, children, etc.) that made the completion of the prereqs (and with good grades too!) even more impressive! We all know how hard it is to complete all the requirements, no matter our backgrounds. Chemeketa is supposed to be one of the best programs in Oregon and their students are known to be some of the most prepared upon graduation to meet the demands of the job (according to several nurses I know who have worked with nursing students from several different programs!) It was very disappointing to feel like I blew it with only two questions when I did spend so much time doing the prereqs and attempting to prepare for the interview itself. In my opinion, you can't get a good idea of someone's fitness for the program in so few questions, but they seem to have their system figured out. The drive would be worth it for you in the end!

I was really confident going in to Lane's interview too! There were several individuals in my interview group who gave excellent answers so I was a little deflated afterward. I have patient care experience working for a reproductive health program so I had great answers regarding skills transferable to nursing and general patient care so I was really disappointed when I got unrelated questions. I am hoping everyone wasn't as polished as the people in my group too! I actually live in Corvallis so county wise, Linn-Benton would be the closest for me, but I've heard and read wonderful things about Chemeketa's program so it is my first choice. I am not a CNA so I was not able to apply to Linn-Benton this year as a CNA license is one of their requirements for admission. If I don't get in to Lane or Chemeketa this year, I will take a CNA course so I can apply to more places next year. Getting into any program is highly competitive so I am with you, I would be absolutely thrilled to be accepted anywhere.

I would be shocked if you didn't get in to Chemeketa. Only alternates could have points higher than yours. 310 is an excellent score. Congrats!! Even with tie breakers, I bet you'll make the cut. The first tie breaker is an A grade in BI 231 so they would only look at your county of residence as the secondary tie breaker. Last year they had to start doing tie breakers around the 304 point level so you should be safe! I have poured over the posts from last year and I really paid attention to which scores got in (for the people posting). I also interviewed at Lane last week and I don't think my answers were very strong. I feel like it was luck of the draw on the questions you actually got asked and I just happened to be asked questions where my answer wasn't strong!

amsugar, SAME! That's what has me so nervous! I am going in with 306 so without taking alternate points into account, I am down 4 points, but with alternate points, I am down 9. EEK! That's a huge margin. Last year people with 306 got admitted, but there was only one person going in with alternate points! If you have a 307.5 (if my math is correct, haha!), I bet you'll get a spot. Even with those alternate points, you have a great score! I'm with you, I hope there aren't any long appeals because I need to know one way or the other!! Though on my score sheet last year, they made two errors so I would definitely encourage people to review their score sheets closely. They were extremely quick to fix the errors. My fingers are crossed for all of us. I know how hard we've all worked to get to this point!

Congrats to anyone going in with alternate points! I wish I had them! But that does make me more nervous about my score. I know from reading last year's threads that a couple of the alternates accepted offers from other programs because they didn't want to risk not ending up with a spot at Chemeketa so it's unlikely (I hope!) that all 15 will be coming back, but 5 points is a big advantage. Last year notification was sent out on May 1 so we'll all have to bite our nails until then!

So they are using alternate points this year? Why would they say they aren't?! Earlier in the forum, someone posted that they were told by health sciences that they were not using alternate points this year. Weird! Someone who got in last year posted that they accepted 13 alternates and they had 28 total so that means they could have as many as 15 alternates coming back, but some of those people probably got in to other programs. I just want to know one way or the other!! I am down 4 points so I am worried if there are a lot of alternates that I won't get a spot! My anxiety is in full swing!!

I got invited for an interview as well! I'm so excited! But so nervous too! I chose the 11:00-1:20 time slot. @LB2017, the email said 250 people applied and the top 125 are being invited for interviews. The point cut off for this year is 52.20 :)

I've read through most of last year's posts and from those scores, 304-310 appeared to be the accepted range. Though at the 304 level it looks like they had to start doing tie breakers because one person posted they got in with 304 and alternate #1 also posted that they had 304. Alternate #19 had 300. I read in a comment above that they are not allowing the alternates from last year to use their 5 point advantage so I am betting that the scores admitted last year will be very similar this year because last year they went through 19 of their alternates from the previous year so only one person was applying with the extra 5 points. Crazy that they went through that many people! Even if you're 5.5 points down, you still have a really good shot. I asked on last year's forum how many alternates they went through from last year and someone replied 13. If you're within the first 10 alternate spots, it seems like chances are good!!!

I took the Kaplan last year and got an 85% (46/50 application points) and I have full points for the grades after retaking two classes so I chose to not retake the Kaplan test just in case I did not do better. Plus from earlier posts, sounds like I have a really good chance going in with an 85%. Looks like on the Chemeketa forum that several people got really good scores! I hope yours goes well! Good luck! @mattsch311, sorry, I should have specified that it was for Chemeketa! I don't want to freak Lane applicants out and make them think they missed something!
