Chattahoochee Technical College ASN Fall 2016

Published

My name is Jamie. I attended the first application session today at Chattahoochee Tech for the Fall 2016 program. I've enjoyed following the last two groups of prospective students on these boards and thought I would see if I could get one started for the 2016 applicants. I'd love to get to know other prospectives and share the emotional rollercoaster that hopefully ends on a high!! :)

JFS - Do not put any stock into what banner says about class times and days. They have to give Banner "something", but it is by no means your actual schedule.

So for everyone, do not make any commitments to anyone until you get the official schedule at the beginning of the semester. Ashley may remember better than I... but I think we didn't get a hard schedule until the first day of class/orientation. There may have been something beforehand at the 2 day orientation. Even so, be flexible because sometimes things change with short-notice.

I can't stress having a good planner/calendar system enough. I'm old school and prefer a paper planner over a digital one. I use the full-size uncalendar and love it.

Here's a sample of my this past February on the monthly view.

Yes, Patricia is so right. My sister told me in nursing school, you gotta be very flexible...almost always available. So I have my mom staying with us for the next couple of years so I am all set with child care. And I'm in search of someone to fill in for me at work whenever necessary.

A million thanks to you Patricia for the sample of your organizer. You're awesome!

Looking back, I want to point out that the Foundations class will be for the "junior" nursing class. That Adult Health II class is what is often referred to as Med-Surg 2. That will be our senior class.

I finally read through the comments in this thread all the way through. I'm so excited for you all! I remember not being able to think of much of anything the last summer except the mystery of nursing school.

I wanted to know every little piece of information I could get my hands on. A few things I thought were helpful to do during this time included binge watching youtube nursing students/nurses. There were several I liked - Nurse Bass and Nurse Nacole are ones I remember from the top of my head. If you search youtube, you will find more people who document their nursing school experiences. Of course once I started school, I could.not.even. keep up with watching youtube.

A question that I never could get answered was, "What should I be doing now to prep?" Most people say relax, get your family life in order, do fun stuff because once school starts - it won't let up. Those are great pieces of advise. But just in case you want something more substantial....

1) Make sure you have a printer before school starts - check ink prices...that's where it bites.

2) Read up on APA style report writing.

You are Wonder Woman!!! Thank you so so so much. That's truly the best & most helpful advice I've received. God bless you abundantly. I appreciate you taking your time to be of help to us.

What the best way to prepare for the interview part of this process?

Start searching around for possible nursing school interview questions, and then practice what you want to say out loud. Dress professionally for the interview. Eye contact is your friend. Have a question or two prepared to ask the interviewers. Someone asked about reference letters earlier in the thread. I brought mine to the interview.

Wow. I haven't looked at this in awhile b/c I wasn't getting notifications. That's odd. No idea all these posts were here. Thank you so much Patricia! It is very unsettling to not have a schedule until it all starts, but it is what it is. I'm out of town without my notes from the application session. I'm trying to plan a family summer trip. Can anyone remind me of interview and orientation dates. I think interview dates are 6/14-6/16? Can't remember orientation at all. Thanks!!

I went to the first information session and I have it written down as; Interviews June 14th-16th and acceptance letters to be sent out June 24th.....

We will find out if we got an interview between the 7-8 of June , the actual interviews are between the 15-18 and I believe orientation would be between July 24 and 25 or 25 and 26 :)

Hey ladies,

Has any of you seen the updated admission criteria? No more interviews!!! And total admission points is 310 now....OMG!!!

This applies to 2016 or moving forward to 2017? Bridge, ASN or both? That is wild?
