Chattahoochee Technical College ADN program 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi my name is Samantha, I am currently a CST (certified surgical technologist) at CHOA, and I am considering applying to the ADN program for fall 2020! I actually completed the Surgical Tech program at Chatt Tech, and since then have been working at CHOA, I love my job there and love being a surgical tech, but really want to advance my career in the medical field by becoming an RN! I took my teas a few years ago before the surg tech program and got a 70 which is the minimum score and have a 3.46 GPA after the program. I would love to discuss with anyone thoughts about the program and any advise, about program admission, working while in the program, and tips and tricks for a higher score on the teas and CT exam!

Interesting...Looks like they decided to cut the remaining info sessions and decided that 5/18 was the last day. They did have additional sessions scheduled for the 6/3 and 6/10.

Hey I actually attend both the PN meeting on 6/8 and the RN meeting 6/10. And I applied for both programs praying I get into one.

Hi, I’m also applying for the RN/LPN programs for Fall 2020.
After the LPN completion, does anyone know if it's difficult to get accepted in the LPN-RN program? ?

I think it's typically easier because most schools admit the LPN students at a later point in the program.

Chatt Tech really didn't handle this Covid situation well with regards to nursing. Students aren't going to know if they made it until August (the month school starts), which is not going to leave a lot of time to get everything done prior. Their TEAS scores aren't even due yet (6/30) and the critical thinking exam will be late July.

I've already been accepted into another program and had no choice but to accept it based on this timeline. Typically, they would notify around the same time.

I've also heard they're likely taking fewer students this year, with 300-400 applicants, so it will even be more competitive.

For the lpn program staring in the fall 2020 their only accepting 14 students so it is real competitive at this point. For the RN program they said it will still be between 40-45 students out of all that apply

Congratulations! You are very fortunate you did not have to wait! I applied for KSU and Claton State for Spring 2021, just in case I don't get accepted in Chattahoochee .

So, I guess we gave a better chance of getting into the RN program than the LPN program ?, they have more seats! LOL. In my opinion, the worst part is the critical thinking exam because there is no way you can prepare for it.

I don't think the critical thinking exam is anything to worry about. I imagine there are fewer applicants for LPN also, so who knows?

I think both will be pretty tricky. And yes their is know way to study for the CT test but the emails should come out this week for testing dates. I wonder how that will work if people accept seats for the lpn program and then get into the RN program in Aug ?

They already gave dates for the ATI critical exam. Probably both letters are going to come around the same time.

I don't think there will be that much overlap. I applied, felt good about my chances, and had no plan of applying to the LPN program. When I first started looking at going back for nursing I looked at LPN just to see if it would get me where I wanted to go faster. It would not, so I dropped that idea. It seems like it's almost the same amount of time, plus you don't save THAT much when you bridge. In school longer. I would probably just retake anything that kept me from the RN program and apply again next year, unless the max attempts has been met on pre-reqs.

The school probably also knows who has a shot at the ADN program, so I'm sure they have backups/alternates for LPN ready just in case.
