Chattahoochee Technical College ADN program 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi my name is Samantha, I am currently a CST (certified surgical technologist) at CHOA, and I am considering applying to the ADN program for fall 2020! I actually completed the Surgical Tech program at Chatt Tech, and since then have been working at CHOA, I love my job there and love being a surgical tech, but really want to advance my career in the medical field by becoming an RN! I took my teas a few years ago before the surg tech program and got a 70 which is the minimum score and have a 3.46 GPA after the program. I would love to discuss with anyone thoughts about the program and any advise, about program admission, working while in the program, and tips and tricks for a higher score on the teas and CT exam!

Yeah they changed a lot. Looks like it’s WAY easier

Not necessarily. This means there will be a lot more applicants that could be considered qualified. For example, the critical thinking could have weeded people out, that are now in the pool. (I'm not sure that has changed, just saying).

I just looked. It looks like they've only removed points for micro and A&P II. Everything else is still there, including TEAS and Crit Thinking.

Sucks because I have an A in both those classes.

I’m not applying. Got in at Dalton. The CRIT test is still a part of It. That alone will weed out at least 50% of applicants even if they did have good grades and met the qualifications. There’s no way to study for It and most people have testing anxiety and will over think it so that works out for those who test well.

CONGRATS on getting in! When does it start? I know they have their Spring deadline coming up and it was a backup, but I don't think I'm going to need it (fingers crossed).

I will be applying to the program too (hopefully).Do y’all think it’s too late to take AMP1 for the Summer and still make the deadline? If so which professor would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

I would say that it's too late for this year. They've added some virtual sessions for application (originally supposed to end the first week of April), so you can try. It doesn't cost to apply. I would guess that they would have made most of their selections before that Summer session ends. You can always try.

A&P is not something good to try and cram into 8 weeks. Getting an A is pretty important. It's possible, but you need to make sure you don't have distractions or other obligations that keep you from doing it.

Thank you! I am have applied to the school and I am also enrolled in the information session for the LPN. I just figured sinse I will be bridging eventually I can try to take amp1. I took a bio before but it was for the LPN, and I have been studying for the TEAS so I am familiar with the systems hopefully I should be good.

Where has this been communicated? I talked to an adviser last week via email, and no changes were mentioned. Are you saying that even if you are done with micro and A&P 2, that won't be taken into consideration? TEAS??

And don't assume everyone is a "lady" ?

yes, I am. It's on the ADN Chattahoochee page, my Professor also told the class that is true. I believe if done you won't have to take it while taking nursing classes.

Hey guys can you recommend a good professor for Amp 1 please I am registering even though they are all online ??

Also apparently the TEAS being waived was fake news, they cleared it up and said that it was just extended to a later date ?

Yeah, I spoke to an adviser. I can't say I agree with the decision. Imagine if you made As in every science but a B in A&P I. Others have an A in A&P 1 and a C in micro and B in A&P 2. That doesn't seem fair, though they say it is being done out of fairness due to covid.

I knew that was fake when I saw it. I didn't take A&P at Chatt Tech, so I can't recommend.

Didn’t take It at Chatt so I’m not sure. But as jmcgrott said, It is a LOT of information to attempt to cram but It definitely can be done. You will really need to remain focused and tbh, It will be more difficult to do the labs at home over the classroom. I recommend watching Mr. Fords Class for a&p1 on Youtube. He explains It in a way easy to understand

Tbh, I wouldn’t be surprised if they select a larger number of applicants with everything that’s going on. They need nurses more than ever now.
