Charity School of Nursing 2011

U.S.A. Louisiana

Published

hi im new to this site and im majorly worried about getting into my nursing program at charity school of nursing for the fall 2011 class. I been denied two previous times and this is my 3rd attempt at getting in. My gpa is a 3.0 and I scored a 78 on my teas. I know my scores arent that great but they are better then when i applied my first and second time. I was wondering if it matters any to be denied the 1st and 2nd try. Would i have a better chance if i kept on trying? or does it start fresh every semister youre applying? my profile score is at 50 right now. Can anyone tell me what to expect and also anyone that has been denied before tell me what they did different and also what their scores were?

su9032,

Yeah, I'm retaking it on the 17th. I murdered science portion and apparently need to work on my English. But thing is, at LSU the A&P is like 9 credits total which counts for both A&Ps, so I dont know if i'll get any profile points bc I have never taken A&P before. And well diversity is first thing, out of a class of 80 there are hardly 10-12 minorities and some which dropped out.

They do not nurture you in any way shape or form. For instances, I know a kid who failed his test and got an email from a professor saying he failed and needs to drop. If the professor was really willing to help the student pass, then she should have offered ways in which she could have helped the student succeed, like understanding the information better or study tips, not telling the student to drop when there are still 5 major assignments left. Its more like you have to attend the school to know what the problems are. These are just my opinions, but i'm sure there is someone out there that begs to differ. I just hope I get into Charity, because that's my last hope. ='(

Specializes in ICU, ED.

What school is this?

Nishu09,

Just prepare as much as you can for the Teas. Get the TEAS study guide if you haven't already gotten it. If you got in at LSU, you should have a good shot at Charity. The admissions coordinator can possibly give you some feedback too. I can't mention her name, but you can email me or call the school.

The instructors don't exactly coddle us at Charity either, but they are supportive. We also have a resourse lady who you can meet with that will help you individually and she has all sorts of resources. Plus you can schedule time with one of the students from the honor society for tutoring and study tips.

ya i studied the study guide and made a good grade but the real test i got much lower. I can't do much but go over it again and hope for a better grade. yeah i went there to turn in my application form and one of the lady is really well, crazy and they have another one that is calm and helpful. i'll go on the 17th and talk to the calm one and see what she says.

when I talked to that coordinator last month, she said so many students transfer from LSU to Charity and do much better, so I hope same does for me!!! And thanks so much, how can I pm you?

Nishu09,

I suggest getting the TEAS online practice test, version 4.0. It is exactly like the real thing. I didn't bother with the study guide, only the practice test and I got an 82. Good luck :)

I go to a quarter school (3 smaller semesters in one academic year). I sent an updated transcript to Charity this week and attached a note that displayed my last classes (i'm 9 hours away from a degree in biology/pre med). They aren't including the fact I will have a degree in May because they're selecting students in April = no 10 points on my profile score :(. I'm sooooooooooooooo scared now.

What's your score w/o the 10 points? I didn't get in for the fall b/c I was not enrolled in A&P 2 lab. Had I been enrolled (no matter what grade I got in that course or any others that I was taking) I would have been accepted. I have a 50, and 55 was the cut-off. The worst part is that I already took the course, but the 5 year time limit had passed. I'm hoping that some spots open up, but I'm not too confident. Good luck!

hey, does anyone know when we will find out if we got into the program or not?

Nishu, I sent you a private message. I can't post specific names for who you should speak with on this blog.

I spoke with someone about a week ago and she said about two weeks so it should be the start of next week hopefully that they go out.
