Charity School of Nursing 2011

U.S.A. Louisiana

hi im new to this site and im majorly worried about getting into my nursing program at charity school of nursing for the fall 2011 class. I been denied two previous times and this is my 3rd attempt at getting in. My gpa is a 3.0 and I scored a 78 on my teas. I know my scores arent that great but they are better then when i applied my first and second time. I was wondering if it matters any to be denied the 1st and 2nd try. Would i have a better chance if i kept on trying? or does it start fresh every semister youre applying? my profile score is at 50 right now. Can anyone tell me what to expect and also anyone that has been denied before tell me what they did different and also what their scores were?

NewOrleans0384,

I would think that you should have a good shot at getting in for the fall. Many students do not get in on their first attempt. I really think that they focus on the TEAS the most. One of my friends will start in the spring, and she got a 74 on the TEAS. I don't know what her GPA was, but I know that she had a C in A&PII. I would think that you'd have a very good shot at getting in with a 3.0 and a 78 TEAS score. Keep us updated and good luck.

i got in!

Congratulations, NO0384! Good for you for not giving up. :yeah:

Good luck...I just finished third level. STUDY STUDY STUDY

This might seem like an odd question, but what is the deadline for students to return their acceptance paperwork? I am on the alternate list, and I want to know when I should start inquiring about open seats. Thanks :)

For this past Fall, we had to have our acceptance forms back by Jan 22.

So that means that people who also applied to LSU should already be in their program, and hopefully will not hold on to a seat that they are not going to use. I don't want the people at Charity to forget about me, or give the extra seat to someone who just happened to inquire about it at the right time. Do you know how they fill the extra space? What if there are only 5 extra seats, but 20 applicants with a score of 50 (that's what I have, and the cut off was 55, so I should be at the top of the alternate list), what do they do then? Thanks :)

I was told i have 50 too and that the names are chosen randomly from the list. Not sure why but thats how she said it worked and we won't know until Spring or summer next year. Don't know if that helps

Thanks. I was told that the next group to get moved up would be the applicants with a 50, so I guess the picking at random would be if there were more applicants who have a 50 than there are available spots? I was also told late-spring or mid-summer, but I wasn't sure if they started sending out letters as the spots became available, or if they wait until spring/sumer and then fill all the available space at one time. This wait is worse than the first time, but I'm happy to still have the possibility of starting in the Fall.

I turned in my information by the deadline for fall 2011 & was told depending on how many students they can accept, they start w/the highest profile score & work down. Every year the budget has been getting cut, so that means less teachers, so less students that they can accept even though they are qualified. Since turning in my info, I have not heard anything. I am not sure what GPA they came up w/for me.... I have a degree in Psychology, scored an 77 on the TEAS, got a "C" in A&P I, an "A/B" in A&P II & an "A/B" in Microbology. This was the first time I applied to this program. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

I would call them if you haven't heard anything yet. If you go to the website there is a profile sheet; you can figure out your score. If you at least have a 55, you should have been accepted.
