hi everyone! i just discovered chamberlain college of nursing in phx,az and it seems like a pretty smooth entrance and acceptance process but i have a question. if your act/sat scores are good enough and above what they say the minimum is required, do you still have to take any sort of entrance test to get into the school? i read some about the a-2 test but i did not know if you have to take it if your sat scores are fine?... your information and advice is appreciated! thanks so much in advance!

Is there a reason you aren't applying for the July semester? The official deadline was March something but I know someone who applied about a month before the March semester started and she got in. Your chances are probably really good if you do well on the A2 test, which is the HESI I believe, and you write an essay which is graded based on 11 points, you need 7 to pass. I can't believe how easy it was to get in, considering how difficult ASU's workshop made it seem and the two year waiting list for maricopa colleges. Anyways, Good luck!

Hello- I just think time-wise, July is too soon! Any advice for the A2 test? Or is it just their version of the NET. I did pretty well on that. How is the program? I heard they accept about 50 people per semester, do they fill up?

Oh ok, I thought July was better than October, the sooner you start the sooner you finish you know :twocents: I'm not sure if it's already filled up because they do a rolling enrollment meaning about every 3 to 4 weeks or so they take their applications and review those and take the top 10 or whatever out of that pile, and do it again. I'm not 100% sure when they do it. They just had an open house did you go? I haven't started yet but I do on July 6th and I do believe it's 50 per semester, but there are 3 semesters so, 150 a year is good :) the HESI is sorta like the NET only it has more sections including chem, A&P and bio, I can't remember if the NET had that. They mainly focus on math, reading and vocabulary. Good luck let me know if you have any more questions

Actually, I do have one more question :) Where do you do your clinicals? I know that Grand Canyon University does theirs through St. Joe's, but I can't seem to find any info on Chamberlains website. Please let me know any info , I'm curious!

Thanks!

When I went to the open house the clinical coordinator was there explaining this. She said they make deals with hospitals around the area, and they also take into consideration where you live. So it's not all just one place, especially since there are only 8 classmates to each clinical. She did mention the one right across the street, Lincoln something or other. She also said because they've only been open for a year, they are still working on these contracts because many students haven't reached the end of the semesters. She said for example the psych clinicals because that is in the 3rd year, yet no one is there, so they are still in the process of getting all those contracts. Sorry if this was a WAY too long answer lol

Thanks! I really appreciate it, let me know how you like it once it starts! I am sending in my application for Fall right now. :)

Just a quick question for those of you accepted- what range was your GPA in? My application was reviewed yesterday for the October class and put on hold, which basically means I have to wait another month till the next meeting and they re-review my application. Apparently its in the average range, yet my advisor told me I have great numbers! I was wondering if anyone else had their application held as well, or how your Gpa's /A2 tests were?:confused:Thanks!!

I have a GPA of 3.648 and passed the A2 exam within the high 90's... but right now is an EXTREMELY busy time for ALL advisors because Summer session starts July 6. Your application was probably only on hold due to the advisors scheduling everyone for their classes and wrapping up financial aid and such for the summer start students (that's when I start). You are doing a great job, getting everything in quickly. I would suggest you to get started on the clinical packet (in which you need to get proof of your immunizations and such) while you are waiting. You'll need that stuff no matter which nursing school you get accepted to, so while your file is on hold, get ahead on some of the other things needed. You can find the clinical stuff on the website. Good luck! If the advisor said you have great numbers, then I wouldn't worry about it!

Hey, thanks! Your scores are very high, I really do believe I am in the "average" range. I am higher than the minimum requirements, but not above average. My A2 scores are right where the average is for accepted students.. The person who told me I am on hold said they need to wait for more applicants so they can see where I stand, and basically accept above average people first. It's just hard to wait so long!! I want this so bad! Congrats on starting this July!

Thanks Tonya! They accept a total of 50 people and they won't accept those below a 2.5 GPA. I'm sure you will do just fine! I'm so excited (but nervous about how I'm going to juggle my time...). Let us know if you get accepted! Meanwhile, go ahead and get that other stuff done....

hey everyone! So my gpa is just average, a 2.8 and i got an 88 on the a2 and i just really want to know if they only accept people with really high scores. thanks!

I forgot wat me A2 score was...lol i think maybe 82 or higher but nyways my GPA was 3.33
