I am researching online MSN programs and have narrowed it down to 2-3 and I was wandering if anyone has gone through the Chamberlain College online program for FNP. If so any advice would be helpful. Did you like the program? If not Why? Would you recommend an online program for a MSN?
Hi Dallas, I'm interested in chamberlain's fnp program and am trying to get people's opinion about this since it's a new program and the first group will be finishing up soon. Do you feel you're well prepared to be a FNP? Have you started your clinical yet? How was it to find your own preceptor? Did the practicum coordinator assist with this process? Thank you
Hey there!
I just successfully completed Immersion Weekend this past weekend (8/21-8/23). The first day is Friday, and no class work...this is considered a travel day where all students come to the site and check in hotels...etc. Day 2 is Saturday, which you are put into groups and then you go to stations to practice complaint specific checkoffs. Day 3 is check off day...you get paired up with a partner and you won't know your scenario until you get to the testing site at your allotted time slot.
Do all of you have an experience working as a nurse or some of you started the program without any? I personally don;t have any experience, I just graduated in December and am staying home with the new baby.Wanted to start program while am staying. WOuld you recommend getting some experience first?
I had experience before I went back, I was also pregnant...started program on 7/7/14 and found out I was pregnant on 7/14/14. I have since worked full time night shifts (3 12s) while pregnant and now with a 5 month old baby and fiancé at home. I will continue to work full time until I finish in June. Experience before the program is valuable in my opinion. It definitely has helped with critical thinking, and medication choices to name a few things. BUT to each his/her own, some people make wonderful APNs without RN experience.
