  3. I just transferred from Tele unit to ER in 11/2015. I did 9 months on tele unit including 3 months of training. However, I am having hard time trying to grasp time management and priority. I'm starting to know the meds as I come across them. I would like to know of books, tips, or advices that you can give me to help me transition from tele unit type of nursing to ER fast paced nursing. How did you manage time and prioritized? how long was your orientation? were you prepared after your orientation to be on your own? What can i do to improve my nursing, or grow confidence, or help me with fast paced nursing? Any comments, suggestions, and/or tips will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
  4. Hi Mikkie, I was informed by my counselor that the program is only 34 months of which 1/2 is online and 1/2 will be clinicals.
  5. Mikkie, I thought about the same. There are a lot of FNP opportunity in my city too. However, I think 3 years from now, I am sure there will be a lot more opportunity for ACNP since Board of Nursing is pushing the APRN Consensus Model further. I just started in the ER in 11/2015. I'm still in training. It's super hard and fast paced. I hope I'll be able to juggle school and training in ER and being on my own after training is over. You can also ask ppl at work who know of other ppl who have done ACNP. Someone also told me to get involved with state advanced practice RN organizations. They also help with find jobs and preceptors as well. Plus, you can start looking for hospital to do require ACNP and hospitals that already have ACNP working. I know my hospital uses ACNP at night. But I hope to get a day shift job eventually. Hope this helps!
  6. Hello all, Update: After careful consideration for NP, I decided to do ACNP instead of FNP. I realized I wanted to stay within the hospital system rather than doing community health. Thus, I will be starting the program in 01/2016 at GCU. Thank you all for your input. It has helped me a lot to make the decision.
  7. Hi Mikkie, I have applied for ACNP as well at GCU. I will be starting on January 07, 2016. When are you starting the program? Are you also in ACNP program or FNP?

  10. I am thinking of applying to Walden University for FNP Program. How is the program so far? Almost everyone is having trouble finding preceptor/clinical sites. I was informed that before I apply, I need to give them a list of clinical sites that I may possibly be looking at for clinical for peds, OB-GYN, adult and gero. How did you all get your clinical sites and preceptor? I recently moved to Arizona, so I have no networks here. Any advice would be much appreciated. TIA.

  12. Hi Pixie.RN, Do you know if CCN FNP is approved by Arizona BON? I am confused between GCU FNP program and CCN FNP program. Do you know of pass rate and/or retention rate for GCU and/or CCN? I am also confused about if FNP has a brighter future or ACNP. Any information would be greatly appreciated. TIA.
  13. Has anyone graduated from FNP program and took their exam? if yes, how was it? how did you prepare for it? How was it with setting up for clinical in home state with no CCN campus in state? Anyone know if CCN FNP program is approved in the state of Arizona? TIA for any information.
