  1. I passed on my 1st attempt . I got 75 questions .. I used the Kaplan review to study ..
  2. I did the same thing . I would put on my professional attire and go out around 8am and leave my resume cover letter and the preceptor agreement form with the office manager and It worked in the end . I was able to obtain 2 preceptors this way . Go for it.....
  3. So I passed the ANCC Adult/ Gero Primary Care boards today and I must say it was easier than I thought that it would be . So now I'm officially An AGPCNP-BC.. I'm still in disbelief .. I have been reading this message board for months trying to get an understanding of what to focus my studies on.. I'm pretty much stuff with Fitzgerald. I purchased her review book and took the live course in Tampa back in May with Dr. Miller who was nothing but awesome .. She outlined everything extremely well.. I made flash cards and notes and studied that religiously. So as far as exam tips I will tell you to familiarize your self with derm topics - PUTONS for BCC and NOSUN for SCC also know your ABCDE for melanoma. Also have a understanding of cardiac murmurs such as MRPASS wins MVP and MSARD.. Know the sounds such as Blowing /Harsh murmur sounds .. Medication Contraindications with renal disease..Know the how oral diabetic agents work in the body.. There were a lot of research based questions just know terminology.. Hope this helps!!!!! Pretty much if you know your stuff you will pass .. Relax and stay focused ..
  4. Hi All, I'm taking the ANCC Adult/Gero boards tomorrow I wanted to know if anyone had any last minute tips or pointers?
  5. @suceess2014np what did you do differently the 2nd time?
  6. Check out eBay or Amazon
  7. I'm graduating from a adult / Gero program in May 2014. I'm taking the Fitzgerald review course in May as well. I'm wanting to take my boards mid July. Is this enough time to study or too much time? Also, for anyone that has taken the ANCC boards what should I expect ? Is it like NCLEX , how many questions , question style, multiple choice . Any feedback is greatly appreciated!! Thanks
  8. Thanks I registered for the 2 day review course in Tampa, Fl . I'm really looking forward to attending.
  9. Hello all: I just discovered that the Fitzgerald review course costs $452.00 . Is this review course really work the money? I'm looking for feedback from people who have taken the course?
  10. @uronurse1. Yes it's a big relief. And I never realized how difficult it was to find willing preceptor. I'm absolutely going to give back once I'm done by providing preceptorships.
  11. No your not crazy at all. I discovered that we were expecting my first semester of NP school. I was enrolled full time and working full time as we'll. I was naturally overwhelmed at first, thinking that it would be impossible for me to go through. I Aced the 1st semester . Successfully completed the 2nd semester which included a clinical rotation of 90 hours in addition to still working full-time. I delivered at the end of April 2013 . I can remember being in Labor finishing up my final health policy paper and taking my final exam for health assessment. My program was put for the summer. I was on maternity leave for 12 weeks. I returned to work full time in July and classes resumed in August 2013 . This semester was for sure tough . It requires 330 clinical hours in addition to 3 other courses and working full time. In addition to taking care of a toddler and newborn who was exclusively breast feeding . So at this point my breast pump became my best friend. Now baby is now 8 months and I successfully made it out of this semester and on Monday I will begin my final semester . Graduation is set for May 3, 2014. So to answer your question you can Definitely do it as long as you have a healthy pregnancy and a strong support system . Good luck and I wish you the best . And congratulations on your new edition.
  12. With Spring semester beginning on Monday. I've finally secured a preceptor for Spring semester. I found out that it's all about who you know and being persistent.
