Does anyone know what state a paramedic can challenge the RN test without having to take classes?? This maybe a myth but I have heard it can be done in one state. I just don't know which one. If anyone has any information please let me know. Thank You

Have never heard of this. From the paramedics that I work with who are now nurses, there is much difference in the education.
It's not IL.

I haven't heard of this either. I've heard that there's a few states that allow certain military corpsmen to sit for the NCLEX-PN to become a LPN/LVN, but I don't think that helps you much...
So far I have called WY, OK, and WI nursing board offices. Just got started calling offices today. I have a A.A.S. with my medic, but no military. I just don't have the money to spend taking classes and taking time off to attend them or spend the money for online classes either.

I know you can not in Indiana, they do offer bridge programs paramedic to RN if your paramedic training was accredited.
As far as I know the only state you can challenge the LPN boards is CA and that is with millitary/medic exp. I have never heard of challenging the RN boards, nor do I think it is wise.
There was alot more info than just hands on skilled we learned in RN school.

Sorry; however, I do not see this happening. Every place I know of will require you to graduate from an approved program of nursing before you are allowed to take NCLEX-RN. Look into online courses or bridge programs.
In addition, you really do not want to go into nursing without some kind of educational preparation. Working on the floor is an alien world compared to working in EMS or even the ER.

no you need to finish a RN program and then sit for boards.
The nursing classes that I have taken for the bridge program have done nothing but degrade Paramedics and our intelligence. Most of the class was full of just busy work, no actual learning objectives. This just might be this program but it's all I have around here to go to.
I understand and I know of instructors who are on a crusade against paramedics. I suspect because they do not know better and view medics as UAP's.
I was lucky to go through a program that was very pro health care team and even had paramedics come in and teach a few topics.
I hate to say this; however, sometimes the best thing to do is say "yes nurse instructor Torquemada, I convert to nurseanity." Cooperate to graduate if you will. Then, when you have RN after you name, make a difference with the next generation of nurses. Eventually, the old ones will retire or die off.
thanks
Sadly they won't die out soon enough!!
