CGFNS predictor of NCLEX-RN EXAM?

If you passed the CGFNS, you have greater chance in passing the NCLEX.

But they are not the same and not many states now require CGFNS so really would concentrate on NCLEX unless you are in a state which requires it

CGFNS is based on specifics on facts, the NCLEX wants to know what you will do with the facts once you have learned them.

Quite a few have passed the NCLEX exam, that did not get thru the CGFNS on the first try. Unless the nurse specifically is required ot have it for a certain state, I tell them to focus on the NCLEX exam. And forget about a retake of the CGFNS exam.

The value of the CGFNS exam as a predictor for the NCLEX is largely overrated. This is precisely the reason it is no longer required in most US states. I know at least 10 people who have easily passed the CGFNS exam but have been struggling with the NCLEX.

I knew quite a few in the same situation.

they passed the CGFNS CP exam (they swore that a review center helped a lot), got their VisaScreen certificates, and got their Green Cards.

problem is, they can't pass the NCLEX-RN in the US (even after multiple tries), so they can't get the salary a US RN is supposed to get.

I have since lost touch with them.

I think that also puts the US employer at a disadvantage. A US employer brings a foreign nurse to the States to do a registered nurse's job. When the foreign nurse fails to pass the NCLEX, he or she, as a result, cannot function as an RN. That would have wasted the employer's investments in bringing him or her to the US. Likewise, the US government would have wasted an immigrant visa granted to a CGFNS passer who cannot get an RN license, when the visa could have gone to a foreign nurse who has passed the NCLEX and now holds a US license.

My friend and I didn't take CGFNS, but passed NCLEX-RN on first take. We did study and review for almost 6 months right after graduation. Maybe for for some it's true they need to take CGFNS, but I know some CGFNS passers who coudn't pass NCLEX-RN until now.

i posted these points a few years back.

the hospital is not happy coz they spent a lot of time & money and didn't get a us rn; the nurse is not happy coz he/she is not getting the rates the us rns in her unit are getting.

this is why hospitals currently prefer nclex-rn passers.

yes, that is correct and if i'm not mistaken this is also the reason why some prefer that you take the nclex within their respective geographic region 1st.
