I am very confused about the process of Credential Verification Service (CVS) for New York State.
I graduated from a nursing school in Philippines . But I have neither written the nursing board exam nor registered as a nurse anywhere in the world.
Currently, I am in New York and I need to go through the Credential verification process using the CGFNS CVS service.
However, as a part of credential verification process, CGFNS apparently requires information about my initial nursing license (which I don't have).. I am very confused at this point..
How can I get through the CVS process without having initial nursing license ?
Here's my timeline, CVS report sent by CGFNS last year July 31, 2013. Then by August 6, 2013, i sent my application to NYSEd. By September 28 last year, i was surprised to received a letter from NYSEd dated September 11, 2013 stating that my education is approved and i'm eligible to sit for NCLEX-RN exam. Finally, i took nclex last January 28. Hope it helps. good luck!

@ nurse pao: hi! i was just wondering how was your experience on applying for Nclex for newyork? i live in Caifornia and had recently applied for the nclex rn but i was denied due to concurrency issues. i am planning to try my luck and apply for Newyork board of nursing instead. i was checking the cgfns site and im confuse about the fees? what type of application did u go for if you dont mind me asking? will hope to get a response from you. thanks!

For NY you have to go through CVS. I would suggest going through NY only if you plan on living and working there. If you are be aware things are pretty tough job wise due to the high numbers of experienced nursing looking for work
Iam a foreign graduate and I applied for CGFNS Verification Service it's been more than 8 months. My current status is " Ready For Submission" . How long it will take to complete my process??
i would just like to ask how would NYSED process my application from CGFNS.. because i simultaneously submitted my cgfns documents along with the nysed application... am i going to have problems with it?

Generally NY BON meet once a month to review IEN applications. Depending when they receive your report from CGFNS will depend on how quick you receive a reply from the BON
I did not hear rejection of application till now but if they found applicant is involved calling their school f nsg or doing any unwanted favour,it may get rejected from CGFNS.

It took them sometime to update your documents. After i mailed, it took them 1 week for docu to be posted on the system and took them 6 weeks to be sent to philippines.

I see then. Thank you so much. Felt relieve. How many weeks did NYSED gave you eligibility? And for how many weeks did you recieved it?
