CGFNS-CVS New York process ?

World Registration

Published

Hi,

I am very confused about the process of Credential Verification Service (CVS) for New York State.

I graduated from a nursing school in Philippines . But I have neither written the nursing board exam nor registered as a nurse anywhere in the world.

Currently, I am in New York and I need to go through the Credential verification process using the CGFNS CVS service.

However, as a part of credential verification process, CGFNS apparently requires information about my initial nursing license (which I don't have).. I am very confused at this point.. :(

How can I get through the CVS process without having initial nursing license ?

Please kindly suggest me !!!

Hi! I'm a bit confused on where is the best place to post this question. I'm pretty sure this must have been asked around here somewhere (I really just couldn't find it).

I started my CVS application awhile back and noted that the dates on my educational background were automatically filled out. For example, I entered in June 2003-March 2007 and on the forms I am about to print out, it says June 1, 2003-March 1, 2007. This is not accurate as the dates on my transcript is different. Is there a way for me to change these dates, except manually? I am planning on photoshopping it. LOL I just don't want it to cause any unnecessary delays."

thanks in advance for any info regarding this matter.

You can't change anything you have to either phone CGFNS or send a letter explaining changes

It happened to me too but mine is because i got ces issued report before i applied for cvs maybe the records entered automatically but above answer is right better give rhem a phone call because once i payed for cvs and new doc recieved they updated everything based on the new documents recieved..

Ill be going to the US as an immigrant this September. I would like to apply for CVS while im still here in Philippines. Im confused to mailing address to use. Also, I am already married, is it okay if I use my husband name for my CVS? Would that affect the transcripts from school? My license in Philippines (PRC) is already in my married name though. Im a second courser, would my first course be included for CVS or only my nursing? sorry im just confused.Thanks.

It would be more convenient for you to start your application once you're here in the US. You can use your husband's last name but make sure that your have an affidavit saying that your maiden name and the one you use now is the same person so CGFNS can validate your claim if ever it will create an issue with your school transcripts. All the subjects relevant to your nursing education will be evaluated by the CGFNS so it doesn't matter if nursing was your second course. Good luck!

hello,

Whats the difference between CVS and CES? My friend told me to apply CVS but just wondering if its just applicable for people who have stable visa in the states? How about if i just have a tourist visa, is CVS still applicable for me?

Cvs is exclusive for applicants who wants to be license in new york..its a verification of credential. If you dont want to apply a license in new york, no need for cvs. Even if you are still here in philippines you can apply for it.i dont think having a tourist visa can hinder u from applying..just make sure its really ny you want your license to have or else your just wasting money and time.

As mentioned CVS is a service that NY bon has asked for for all International nurses to complete regardless on initial application or endorsement

I find your comments very close to my inquiry. Hi kababayan i need your advice. What if I already have my local licensed then I applied for a working visa as an LPN in NEW YORK to earn money while preparing for the NCLEX requirements sort of things like CVS from CGFNS for NY then waiting for the BON decisions. Do you think it's alright? I am willing to take the risk as long that I can start working. Or can you give me any advice what will be the best thing to do so that I can start working abroad even without experience. Thanks.

If trained as an RN you are not eligible to apply for LPN licensing in NY. LPN does not meet US work visa requirements.

Answer doesn't change from your other thread. A LPN will not meet work permit or immigrant requirements as a stand a lone. You need RN or BSN. BSN or 12 years experience is required for Work permit

Hello!

Im a Registered Nurse here in the Philippines and im looking forward to go to NY to practice my my choosen profession.

I also purchase the CVS for NY state. I did submitt all the needed requirements last march 2014 to CGFNS and NYSED. My school

recieved the validation request last may and CG recevied it last July.

However, for my PRC on the other hand got my validation request last aug and sent it to CG last sept 1.

My problem is that CG did not update the status of my PRC verification. Is is still "waiting for required documents" for my License. However, overall the status of my Account is "READY FOR SUBMISSION"

Im so Confused:( I dont know what to believe. I need help. Please!!!

Thanks in advance!Appreciate it so much!

Same happened to me, PRC verification did not reached CGFNS on time. Fortunately, NYSEd still made me eligible. good luck!
