CGFNS CES Report Missing Clinical Hours

Published

Hello!

I'm a Canadian educated nurse who is trying to work in the States. CGFNS sent a CES Report to Washington for me but in the report they stated I am missing clinical hours in psychiatric nursing and my education is "comparable" because of these deficiencies.

Anyone with similar issues with 'missing clinical hours' still able to get a state license?

It should be considered as pediatric hours. Go to the Campus and try to talk with the Director of Nursing care. She just needs to split those hours and fill them differently on the form that CGFNS sends you. Honestly, we shouldn't be punished for gaps in their curriculum.  But I guess we were not trained to leave & go work abroad either....LOL

That's my exact thought, they don't want us to leave Finland lool. The director of nursing is the one I'm actually dealing with currently. She's the one filing the forms and she was one my lecturers! She's too damn strict. I guess I have try my luck if she'll agree to divide the hours.

I got a non comparable license in my CES report, I don't know if I should proceed with board application with Texas BON.

I have 48 hours in each maternity peads mhealth

is that enough for texas board?

Maternity & Infant care has always been a problem at Laurea. I think in the later years they tried to re arrange their curriculum because all their ex students kept having thesame problem. Metropolia had a way more advanced curriculum.  It's just 80hrs. You don't have to quit your job. I came from abroad to do those hours and I did them like a placement. I had to beg and plea for them to get one for me. Go to any unit and explain yourself to management. I tell you it's your BEST BET to get it done now that you are still in Finland.

Hi! This is off-topic, but I am a Canadian nursing student. I will be taking a trip to Finland in April. I was trying to find a nurse to shadow for the day. Do you know of anyone? I work as a mental health nursing student. Would it be neat if I could shadow a mental health nurse there? I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Does anyone know if CGFNS goes through your course modules and allocate some hours to some of your theory courses based on your modules and transcript? I am asking because my sister is a UK Adult nurse, her University in United Kingdom is refusing to provide exact breakdown for her theory hours. They wrote that in UK they give overview of theory hours completed in the program and not specific courses. In her program,  she completed both obs &Gynea, pediatrics and Psychiatric nursing. All these courses were integrated in different courses and not as an individual modules.  She seems to be good in placement hours.

I am US trained RN, but the UK school system is different.

Hello Chichi, just wondering if this was sorted and probably if you have info regarding UK RMN to USRN. Thanks.

Please, what are the minimum theory hours that are acceptable for psychiatry, paediatrics, community, and obstetrics? I have at least 120 hours of clinical placement in each of them. What about the acceptable theory and lab hours for Microbiology, nutrition, anatomy and physiology. I want to do endorsement from Texas to California because of family. Thank you

I am not certain, however,  someone on this platform that I is minimum 40 hours and the said Texas is a good State to process.  Please if you have valid info, kindly share it as you progresses in the process. x

With the attached picture, anyone going to Texas should be fine. Texas is not as difficult as California. I'm looking for a similar response for California.  Thank you. You seem to be Naija. Nice ....I will try Texas BON , although im uk trained psychiatric nurse . I just hope I will be lucky

I live in the USA and did my nursing from Nepal. I'm applying for the NCLEX through the Texas BON, but one of my theory classes seems to be considered 'below requirement.’ Has anyone else faced this? What did you do to meet the requirement?

They  will send you a letter explaining how you can meet the requirements. I had missing gerontology.  They were happy with my work experience.  I had a letter done by my manager explaining I care for elderly patients in the ward.
