Hello!
I'm a Canadian educated nurse who is trying to work in the States. CGFNS sent a CES Report to Washington for me but in the report they stated I am missing clinical hours in psychiatric nursing and my education is "comparable" because of these deficiencies.
Anyone with similar issues with 'missing clinical hours' still able to get a state license?

Could u share how to correct deficiency? I tried with Virginia BON and there were no college that could take me for Maternity and Pediatric standalone courses.

Canadian RN applying to TEXAS BON.
CES report stated I was missing gerontology and psychiatric hours.
I ended up going through all my clinical binders and went back to my university and argued that I mostly took care of geriatric patients as a student and that my community placement could double as psychiatric because it was in a retirement home and our focus was more social because we didn't provide any physical care. My university agreed and updated the hours.
I had to pay for a CES re-evaluation and then it was accepted. I was still deficient in the theory hours but the TEXAS BON didn't care. Their focus was just on the clinical hours, maybe because I had some of the theory but not all? 42 hours in each.
While I was working on getting this rectified thru my university, I asked my employer to allow me to do an 80 hour unpaid rotation on the psych ward in our hospital. The manager wrote a letter for me stating that I completed the hours. The Texas BON said they would accept an employer letter explaining how I have met these deficiencies through work experience but I didn't end up having to use it.
Took 2 years but just got my TEXAS RN license
With the first ces report that stated deficiencies before I had it corrected and resent this is what the Texas BON sent me:
We are in receipt of your CES report from CGFNS and it states the following clinical deficiencies:
• In CGFNS's opinion this applicant's studies is comparable in some aspects to the completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program in the United States. However, the applicant had educational deficiencies in the following:
-- 0 hours of clinical practice completed in Geriatric Nursing.
-- 0 hours of clinical practice completed in Psychiatric/Mental Health (excluding Neurology)
TO MOVE FORWARD:
If you are an applicant that did complete the hours during the program, but they weren't included in the CES evaluation (for whatever reason):
You must have your nursing program submit the following:
an official course syllabus for the course(s) and/or course descriptions
a transcript of your grades for that course
an official letter or email attesting that the coursework/hours were completed.
Your program/school must submit the documentation by email to [email protected].
Please have your school only send the pages of the curriculum/syllabi/course descriptions that apply to the missing hours coursework. We do not want documents for the whole program or school.
If your school does not send the documents requested, it will be rejected and you will be asked to contact the school and have them send it correctly.
If you are an applicant that did not complete hours with your nursing program and needs to complete them now to move forward:
You can complete the deficient hours/courses through an initial nursing program (in your country or the US), with an employer, or by completing a refresher course (the course can be tailored to cover the specific hours/courses that you are lacking and does not need to be a full refresher course covering all the general topics).
If you are completing the hours/courses with an initial nursing program, you will need an official transcript and letter from the program dean/director outlining the hours you completed. The program MUST submit the documentation of completion by email to [email protected].
If you complete the hours/courses with an employer or through a refresher course, you will need a letter on official letterhead from the RN that supervised you. The letter must include an outline of the hours/courses that you completed. You MUST submit the documentation of completion by email to [email protected].
ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED FROM AN OFFICIAL INSTITUTIONAL EMAIL ADDRESS TO ENSURE AUTHENTICITY AND TO BEGIN A REVIEW IF NEEDED. IF IT IS NOT, IT WILL BE REJECTED.

This looks very promising .please is there any UK trained RMN here who has scaled through all this hurdles successfully.
