CGFNS CES Report Missing Clinical Hours

Published

Hello!

I'm a Canadian educated nurse who is trying to work in the States. CGFNS sent a CES Report to Washington for me but in the report they stated I am missing clinical hours in psychiatric nursing and my education is "comparable" because of these deficiencies.

Anyone with similar issues with 'missing clinical hours' still able to get a state license?

Every time you apply to any State Board even if it is just for endorsement,  that deficiency will always come up as you will still need a CES report from CGFNS. The missing hours will not go away even if another State Board decides to waive those hours like Florida did for me during covid. My advice is to try to get those hours done somehow if you can as they will forever be a problem ecerytime you need a new CES report

Hi Arlenebabes,

It's not clear on the state BON website that if you endorse from another state they examine your education outside the US again. Where did you register initially? Did you endorse to Florida only? I see Florida is a compact state so could you apply for a multistate license once endorsed there?

If you try to endorse in some states,  they do ask for CES report from any of the approved evaluation body.

Hey, IKR these paeds and obgyn clinical hours criteria is insane! I am happy to study and do course but seems none college/university offer those standalone courses.. So depressing fr!

I applied CES CGFNS. I already got green card so I don't require visa screen one. In such a dilemma, I think I will go through NY Board as well.

Hi! I am in the same situation what did you end up doing for your deficiency ?

I decided to pursue my career in healthcare technology . I think it's worth changing it now than later. Less burnout, more pay, more work life balance. I couldn't get any colleges that could accommodate me anyway. Goodluck!

Hey how were you able to get around it ?

For me, I contacted my school in finland and went back during a visit and did the hours. It was just like 10days! I was tired of trying to get a school/college in the US that will even allow me to do the clinical hours as stand alone. My school sent CGFNS a report of the completed hours and I was finally able to get a report without deficiencies...

What does your CES report say?

My studies and RN registration is comparable to the U.S. However, there is deficiency in clinical practice for Psychiatric/Mental health.
