For those of you who recently passed the CEN or are CEN certified...what study materials did you use in ultimately passing the Exam. People say that ENA's 4th Edition of Questions w/ 2 online exams & Sheehy's ER Review is the best combo? What are you thoughts on this? I've got Vonfrolio's CEN DVD videos as well.
I take mine Saturday. Ive been using boswell sheehy, and the cen practice tests. Im usually between 74 and 75%. So terrified. I had a study lapse when I switched jobs but hopefully my renewed studying will allow me to pass.
thats awesome. let us know how you do and if the stuff you used really helped you pass
I am debating whether or not to spend $200 to go to the Jeff Solhiem course near me ( also $ for hotel and travel) or to use that towards the recommended books and study at home. I realize that everyone has a different learning style that works for them- but what do previous test takers think is best? Have any of you taken his course and not passed the test? I hear some people say it wasn't that hard and others that took it twice to pass.
I have 5 yrs experience in a non trauma ER. Have ACLS/PALS but no TNCC.
I took the CEN about a year ago, I only studied one book after attending a prep review. Which was more of a review than new information (other than the treatment of an iron OD, had no idea..). Personally I looked at the DVDs you had ever so briefly, was not a fan. The only book I recommend to my friends is from Boswell Emergency Medical Education Technology - CEN Review Destin FL Aug 14-15, 2015 it takes out all the fluff and focuses on core information required on the test. I do not recall a single question on my test that was not covered in this book. It is layed out more like a study guide of bullet information to know than in depth paragraphs full of the normal mode of nursing books. Take a look, everyone that I have loaned my copy to has been more than pleased with their results.
hi i clicked on the link and can you tell me which book you're referring to. thanks
