Cedars-Sinai New Grad Summer 09

Published

Hey everyone!

Just thought we could start a thread for those of us who interviewed for Cedars-Sinai's new grad program this past week.

Specializes in ICU, Renal dialysis.
did you email your thank you letter? i emailed my thank you letter but did not get an acknowledgement..what department did you interview for? thank you!

just to clarify i emailed it to one of the interviewers...did you do that also?

Candleguy1142, I mailed my thank-you letters to both the Telemetry and NICU managers, right after the interview. My formal interview was with the telemetry manager, but my area of interest is actually L&D.

I don't think it means much if you get an acknowledgement or not, but because of that, I think that they are still trying to decide. Don't worry if you don't get one since it was a different manager and they probably got 100's of letters. Just know that we're still in the game and hopefully we'll hear soon.

Good Luck!!

many of you struggled through the registration process before being given a membership here. we apologize for that, but i think that after you have spent some time with us, you will understand why we are very particular about user names and passwords. this website hosts the most personable nursing discussion board on the internet. you'll find yourself discussing current daily topics on a more personal level and discover that everyone treats each other with respect on this discussion forum.

no potentially libelous information about specific schools, instructors, or health care facilities/entities should be posted in these forums. while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

sorry for that...now i know better thank you!

So I interviewed with the L&D nurse manager on June 4th and got very positive feedback. Am yet to hear anything though. Am wondering about the grad program - if you are accepted, are you accepted for a specific unit, such as L&D and you do your residency there or is everyone required to complete 10wks of med/surg first?

It seems a little strange to work in med/surg for your residency if you are accepted for an L&D position...or are you simply offered a position on the new grad program and you still have to fight for your speciality at the end of the residency program?? Can anyone clarify??

Thats how our program went (10 weeks of med surg on two different units for everyone, then several of us competed for the same specialty). However, it was a pilot program. Sounds like you guys might get to by-pass all of that if you get accepted. I'm not going into med/surg either, but I personally liked floating to the different units and meeting the nurses there. Overall, I thought it was an awesome experience and it made me a little more aware of how the different floors operate. But your right, why float around in med/surg if your interested in L&D.

Well kids, I have been watching this thread. My girlfriend just got a call today and got offered a job at Cedars! Woo Hoo! Good luck to all of you!

Congrats to your gf! Gosh I'm so nervous now... ahhh I really do hope I get a call soon...this is so nerve wracking!

Goodluck everyone! *crossing fingers!

-Also from what I've heard, newgrads accepted will be in medsurge first and then depending how they do, they have to interview again for a specialty.
