Does anyone know if cedar sinai still has new grad program?
If you have a high GPA (at LEAST 3.5) and a BSN, I'd say your chances of getting invited to the next open house are good. Once there, they hired over half of us who came! Just be friendly and dress professional - the interview was pretty straightforward and not too hard, I thought. Oh, and make sure you have strong letters of recommendation and a strong personal statement, because they do look at those.
Thank you Kalami08
I have a 3.5 and an ICU director recommendation, how many recommendation letters do they require? what's the topic for the personal statement? do you mind sharing some questions they asked you during the interview? was there a time limit that you have to graduate within xxx months? Sorry for bombarding you with questions, just can't afford to miss it again
I'm not sure about the time limit (for most places it's 12 months, but I dont' remember what Cedars said about that - you may need to call and ask). You needed 2 letters of rec (clinical instructors only), and they had to be originals. The essay topic was "why you chose nursing" (a pretty open-ended topic). Oh, and they asked that if you had any community service/volunteer experience (optional), you should include certificates or documentation saying what you did when. (I didn't have any.) The interview was straightforward - I think there was a mix of normal interview q's, behavioral-type q's, and clinical application q's.
Hope that helps!
For all those out-of-towners. I am flying to LA from NorCal for the health orientation. You can get your 2-step PPD test in your hometown and just bring the results with you to Cedars for your health orientation if you do not have time to wait fly back and forth to LA for the 2-step PPD to finish (i.e. 1st test is read 48 hours after injection, then another 2nd test is done no less than 1 week before initial 1st visit, but not more than 2 weeks after the 1st visit). I just called and spoke with employee health.
that's nice to know... you can also do it during your orientation... just be there at the clinic at 7 am... and come back after 3 days at 7 am as well... then the same goes for the 2nd step... you can also bring in copy of your chest x-ray (within 1 yr) if you have a positive result due to the bcg vaccine... but then they will still have to do the 1st skin test i believe... =)
