  1. I graduated in August 2010. It took about 50 applications, 3 interviews and 2 phone interviews before I even landed a job... 6 months later. Prior to applying for anything, I made sure to have at least 3 letters of recs from professors and clinical instructors. I also made a generic cover letter and resume, that I had professionally edited. I also used the website: Indeed.com (keywords: RN new grad and RN residency). You can also try googling "hospitals in California" or whatever state to go to the hospitals directly. The market is tough, but just some time and alot of patience.
  2. For all those out-of-towners. I am flying to LA from NorCal for the health orientation. You can get your 2-step PPD test in your hometown and just bring the results with you to Cedars for your health orientation if you do not have time to wait fly back and forth to LA for the 2-step PPD to finish (i.e. 1st test is read 48 hours after injection, then another 2nd test is done no less than 1 week before initial 1st visit, but not more than 2 weeks after the 1st visit). I just called and spoke with employee health.
  3. Hello Everyone, I just joined allnurses to contribute information for others. I really love this site. It has kept me so informed about different new grad programs. I have been following this thread since the San Francisco Veterans Affair posted their new grad program for 2011. I had a panel interview with them the 1st week of January. The interview was tough but I felt really good afterwords. However, after weeks of waiting with no word, I finally received an email last week stating that they have canceled the new grad RN program all together due to budget constraints. I really had my hopes set on this VA job. So anyways, for all those who never received an email, you don't have to wonder anymore. Onward for all those still looking for work!
