CCBC 2011 Fall petitioners

U.S.A. Maryland

Hi, everyone. I just finished my prereqs. last semester. I am planning on petitioning for CCBC online program in Catonsville, and also Harford community college's accelerated program. Starting to study for the

Teas V exams. Would love to talk to any other new petitioners. Let's walk this journey together! Also, if there are any other nursing students who are attending CCBC or Harford who can offer any advice, I would love to hear some!

Welcome to this thread, Loudhouse!

I know that you are relieved that you took the teas! What was the hardest part of the exam? Which campus are you applying for. I talked to a girl on Friday who just started the Spring program at Essex. She said that when she took the teas, her score was average. She did say her gpa was 3.8, so maybe that helped her. She also said that she is enjoying the program so far. I will be taking the teas in a few weeks. I am debating whether I ought to register to take it a second time as well, just in case! :) Well, I guess the wait begins!

Thank you! Yes, very relieved to have it over with! I am taking it again next week. I registered for 2 dates right from the start. I definitely think Science was the hardest part. There was a whole lot of chemistry! Overall, I didn't think the test was as bad as I had planned on it being! When are you taking it? Good luck to you when you do!! I am applying for Essex day program.

WOW! Thank you for all of the information. It is priceless! Can you tell me who does the background check? Is it a website that you apply to , etc. I would like to get a jump on anything that I can and that would be a great help. Also, is there a form that must be filled out by your doc regarding the vaccinations, titres, etc. I am also curious about the "Skills Pack" that is mentioned...what is in this "pack?" I do not mean to inundate you with more questions but the Program is not giving up any information (I have called requesting this and have been told to wait for orientation)...I am not good at waiting until the last minute for anything. Also, is there a required uniform?

Sorry and thanks!

For those of you who have taken the Teas V exam, would did you think of the reading section? I thought that it was a little tricky. Another poster said that he thought that the reading portion did not test your reading comprehension, but more about reading/analyzing the mind of the test writer! I almost have to agree, because it seemed as if a couple of the answers could apply to each question asked. What do you all think?

I would strongly agree the reading section could have been better written. For that matter, the whole exam could have been written.

So beyond excited! I just got a call from one of the coordinators from Harford Community College. I got accepted into their accelerated evening/weekend nursing program!! I cannot believe it, but just knowing feels so surreal! :D

Wow congrats! That's awesome! So if you get into ccbc too which one do you think you will go to? And did Harford call you today? Didn't think they'd be there on the weekends. Anyway congrats again!

Thanks, ksm84! Yes, I got a call this afternoon from the evening/weekend coordinator. I was surprised to get a call on the weekend as well! I have a friend who is in her third semester at Harford's nursing program, and she loves it! She says that the professors are ultra supportive! Initially, I was leaning more toward CCBC (because I live in Baltimore county), but after talking to different people, I have decided to accept my seat at Harford. Also, I like the idea of starting sooner and getting done. Oh, just in case others on this thread have applied to Harford (I think I remember you saying that you applied, ksm84) my friend said that they will probably be calling the applicants for the accelerated program over the next few days! :)

Well that's great you must be glad to be settled and get going. Yeah I applied to a few schools so I will wait and see what happens. Do you remember how many points you had? I'm not sure I had enough, so I didn't get my hopes up for them. anyway congrats, I hope I get to feel how you do soon.

Ksm84, I calculated 18 points. The nursing administratorsaid that applicants with 20 points or more, pretty much get in. After that, it depends on how many 19point-applicants there are, that affects how many 18 point applicants are accepted into the accelerated program. I was told that last year, all of 18 point applicants made it at least into the traditional program, if not into the accelerated.

Sorry, for the repost...that is what I get for trying to reply on my cell phone!
