CCBC 2011 Fall petitioners

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Hi, everyone. I just finished my prereqs. last semester. I am planning on petitioning for CCBC online program in Catonsville, and also Harford community college's accelerated program. Starting to study for the

Teas V exams. Would love to talk to any other new petitioners. Let's walk this journey together! Also, if there are any other nursing students who are attending CCBC or Harford who can offer any advice, I would love to hear some!

I am applying to ccbc for fall 2011. I applied last semester, was still in a & p II and didn't get in so I really hope I do for this fall. I am also applying for harford's accelerated program and university of Md. I really wanna go to umd, but have to apply to more than one school just in case. Fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone!

Hi, Ksm84! I am so glad to meet fellow-petitioners! Do you have to take the Teas again? I am a little nervous about taking it, but I have the Ati study book from CCBC. Is this the first time you are applying for Harford? As this is my first time petitioning, I feel unsure. Is there any advice you can offer that would help this process? Once again, I am so glad to meet you... I hope that you will get accepted into the program of your choice!

Hi, Luckyme4! Welcome to this thread!

Have you applied to Harford before? Which school would you prefer CCBC or Harford? I am a little nervous about this petitioning process. I will be taking the Teas V soon! Are you applying for the day program at CCBC, or the online? Sorry for all of the questions.

I am applying to the day program at CCBC. I would prefer CCBC because it is close to home. However, I wouldn't mind doing an accelerated program to finish quicker.

When are you taking the TEAS? I am taking it February 5th at the Dundalk campus. I didn't get accepted this semester because of a low TEAS score. I still think their reasoning is bogus. I took the TEAS 4 and the TEAS 5. I did better on the TEAS 4. The nursing advisors told me they would take the higher of the 2 scores. Well, I found out they didn't use my highest score. They said they took the lower score because it was the newest version. I complained and it was investigated. That did nothing. During the investigation, I was told they will not be using the 4th edition for the selection process any longer. Guess what, it is posted on CCBC's website they are still using it for Fall 2011 admission cycle.

I do feel a little bitter that I still don't have a "REAL" reason for not being accepted. Nevertheless, I hope things will be different this time around. I hope I can score an above average score on the TEAS so I can say, "now what is your reason?"

Good Luck to you! I have heard good things about both programs.

Luckyme4-

Jess told me about what happened to you last app cycle- it sucks, but hopefully this time around we will get good news. (I was in your micro class last summer too) I called the school because my letter didn't state anything specific, very generic letter, and the admissions counselor I spoke to basically said to just reapply because she couldn't see anything specific I could improve upon; (I think it's because I was still in speech and a&p2, although I know people that got in who were still in 2 of their science pre-req's so who knows.)

I am hoping to get into maryland or ccbc, but wouldn't mind driving to harford either, esp if I can get into the accelerated program.

Good luck to you- now we have to endure the wait all over again.

Hey there, everyone! I have completed all pre-reqs (except APII, taking that in Spring). Already submitted the application for Fall admission and now I want to throw up...nerves! I took the TEAS V did well. Does anyone know what is included in the acceptance letter...I read something about a "skills packet" or something like that. What is it? I am going for the night weekend @ Essex...anyone else? I am extremely nervous about getting in...I hear that this is now the only night/weekend program in the area...can anyone say "competition?"

Luckyme4, I am sorry about your experience concerning the administration giving you mixed info. It's a shame that they couldn't just take your Teas 4.0 scores. Well, I hope you do score excellently this time when you take the Teas 5.0. I am planning on taking the Teas in a few weeks in Catonsville.

Gaelros, welcome to this thread! Congrats on your great Teas score! What did you think of the Teas? Was there any section that you found really challenging? I just finished A/P 2 last semester with Microbiology. I am taking Chemistry, and also Nutrition this semester. I would like to get into CCBC 's online program. I am a great online learner, but have I have been apprehensive about a nursing program online. I talked to one of the program's advisors about their program, and she reassured me concerning my fears! Well, I hope we all can make it through this experience, and feel successful!
