CCBC, Fall 2011 Applicants =)

Published

Hello Everyone,

Here we go again! This is my second time applying to CCBC's nursing program. I look forward to chatting with everyone as we wait for the GOOD news! I believe things happen for a reason! I have good faith that Fall 2011 is going to be my turn for acceptance. I guess we will see if I am right.

For anyone who was not accepted this Spring, we can be a great support system for each other :).

GOOD LUCK!!!

hi all1872,

welcome! ccbc sends out a pink card saying, "your application is under review and you will be notified about decisions around mid-may." i applied for this spring and did not make the cut. the wait is a killer. good luck to you.

I haven't gotten a pink card and was kinda freaking out (I sent in my app in January). I called the Essex campus and the administrative assistant (I think her name is Patty - very nice lady) checked for me and assured me that my applicaiton was there and complete and ready for review. Whew! Now just have to wait for 8 flippin weeks to hear back...:uhoh3:

I hear ya'. I have called over there a few times for different things. I wonder if they get sick of us calling?! It must be crazy this time of year for them as well, but 8 weeks feel like forever for us. I would be pretty disappointed if I didn't get in, but not devastated. I am still taking my A&P II and Micro so that may be to my disadvantage, even though I am working on A's in both. I have not taken any courses at CCBC ( it sounds like they get some priority), so maybe I am not at the top of the list. I did well on TEAS, but that is only part of it. Oh well...lots to consider and ya' just never know how they will look at the cohort. I am applying to the evening/weekend program so don't have a lot of choices in Maryland (although CCBC has a good rep so I am pretty fortunate).

I spoke with L. Simmons (Director of school of health professions) on Friday. She said now that the nursing applications are online, they are getting about 50 applications a week! Yikes!!! They won't have a final count until after the deadline; it is much more than the previous years. I hate the wait already!

I just called today and they said mid-may... ARGH ... I met with Gwen Jones (nurse adviser) about a month ago, and she said about 4-6 weeks for notification. I'm hoping for sooner rather than later!

I just called the selective admissions office, they said there are around 500 applicants this time around! Yikes! That is a lot of competition!

OMG! I am SICK to my stomach...I am assuming that this is collectively for the entire program (Essex and Catonsville; online, night and day). This completely sucks. I am worried with a 4.0 and relatively good TEAS scores. I have no back up plan...

500??! Oh well...guess I can think about Plan B now! Oh that's right..there is no Plan B!

That's a lot of applicants. Is Gaelros' point possible-that the 500 is for all programs combined? I really hope so. Even so you have to figure that at least a third of applicants have no chance but just throw the application in anyway; some have other first choices, so it narrows it down a bit. (Ok so that really doesn't make me feel better either).

I still have not received my pink card and I submitted my app in mid-Februrary. Anyone else in the same boat?

I do not have a 4.0, but TEAS was good. I went to an undergrad school years ago that experimented with intermediate grades (A, A/B, B, B/C etc..) so if you received an A/B, it transfers as a B, even though the original grade was really a low A. ...that does not help my GPA. Very frustrating. My current pre-reqs are all A's but they won't, unfortunately, see the grades from this semester, so I am really not sure where I stand overall.

I really wish I could concentrate on something other than waiting for my acceptance/rejection notice. Mid-May is sooooo very far away.

Yes, that is the # of applicants for Essex and Catonsville's day, evening, and online programs.

Did anyone apply to the LPN program as well?

Im trying to figure out how many of us applied to which program... I applied to the Essex Evening and Weekend program. I was told that more people apply to the day program- any idea if thats true??

I also applied to E/W program at Essex. Are you currently in any classes at CCBCMD Sleepingbeautymd? I am taking a class at Dundalk...
