CCAC Prospective Nursing Students Fall 2015

Published

Hi everyone! I'm new here, i'm wanting to apply to CCAC nursing program in the spring for the fall 2015. Wondering if anyone else out there is in the same boat? Or can i get some advice? I'm wondering if we're allowed to turn in reccomendations etc. I'm concerned because when i first started college i didnt care about my grades so my GPA is very low right now but i have all of the pre-reqs and co-reqs out of the way except A+P 2 and micro. Hoping to take those in the Spring/Summer. Has anyone else ever gotten in with a low GPA? Also, I keep seeing things about different campuses and people saying their "Allegheny evening" or "North Day".. where do you find out those schedules?? Thanks everyone!!

When I looked at my confirmation email from my application it said it could take a month and a half which would put it at right about April 16th, but I know sometimes they are a little delayed. I've been reading these forums like crazy and everyone knows what their GPA is and everything, and I am trying to figure it out. I really hope I got in! The suspense is killing me!! :nailbiting:

So I got a letter from CCAC in the mail today, was SUPER excited/nervous, ONLY to find out that it was just for my FA. Wahhhh. Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!

Hi! I have applied to the CCAC nursing program for the fall 2015 North campus (day). I have taken both my A&P's and all my other pre-req's. I am currently in micro now. I am hoping we hear something soon. I am very concerned my GPA isn't high enough. Good luck to everyone! í ½í±

How do you figure out what your GPA is with the bonus points if you already completed your sciences? I keep seeing these posts about specific GPAs and I was wondering if you knew. I transferred in the majority of my credits from an outside institution and didn't know if they used an overall or an average, or what.

Good luck to you! I am hoping for Allegheny Night!

Has anyone heard from the program yet????

Nothing here  this wait is killing me!

Same here. I keep checking the mailbox and it's always empty :S

I have not heard either. Hoping next week for sure!

My mailman may seriously consider getting a restraining order on me at this rate :specs:. Next week should definitely be the week, unless they go the 2 month route then there's a little more time. I hope not! Has anyone heard anything about this program from a friend or anything? I haven't heard a lot and they aren't really talkative at the school, lol.

Queen Kong, if you have more than 12 credits from CCAC, they use only that GPA. If you don't, then they used a combined GPA.

For A&P 1, 2 and Micro you have the chance to get bonus points awarded. For your first attempt at a class an A is an extra .75, a B is a .50. For your second attempt an A is worth .50 and a B is .25. More information can be found in the Nursing Program Information Packet.

So if someone took over 12 credits at CCAC, had a 4.0, and got As in A&P 1, 2, and Microbiology - then the max GPA possible would be a 6.25.

Thank you! I think I was confused because I transferred 30 credits in and had like 6 there that I took a while ago so I guess they'll just combine them. Do they take the average of the two?

It says "composite", so my guess is they'd weight it. So 30+6=36 total credits. 30/36 = 0.833 and 6/36 = 0.166.

[(GPA from 30 credits) x 0.833] + [(GPA from 6 credits) x 0.166] = overall GPA. But that's just a guess.
