CCAC Prospective Nursing Students Fall 2015

Published

Hi everyone! I'm new here, i'm wanting to apply to CCAC nursing program in the spring for the fall 2015. Wondering if anyone else out there is in the same boat? Or can i get some advice? I'm wondering if we're allowed to turn in reccomendations etc. I'm concerned because when i first started college i didnt care about my grades so my GPA is very low right now but i have all of the pre-reqs and co-reqs out of the way except A+P 2 and micro. Hoping to take those in the Spring/Summer. Has anyone else ever gotten in with a low GPA? Also, I keep seeing things about different campuses and people saying their "Allegheny evening" or "North Day".. where do you find out those schedules?? Thanks everyone!!

steelersgirl86, you are welcome for the response. I agree with you about not wanting to submit the application twice. CCAC frequently does not return phone calls or emails. At this point, all that we can do is wait for their decisions and letters.

If we had submitted our applications in person at the Registration and Advisement Office, would we have received some type of confirmation? I might be worried that someone would misplace my papers.

Are you taking Human Growth and Development this semester? I took it online last semester, and it was one of the easiest classes that I have ever taken.

Best of luck to you on your application!

Hey tillybiff, I was worried about my application being lost. I turned my application in at Boyce's registration office and I did receive a confirmation email.

Whitney, I am glad that you received a confirmation email for your in-person Boyce application. Maybe the emailed applications do not receive a confirmation...? Maybe later...?

Thanks tillybiff, I'm guessing too that they don't send conformations for emailed applications. But we will soon find out. We are over one hump, the deadline for applications is over. Now the waiting game begins. I got my fingers crossed for everyone.

I , too, personally put my application in at the Allegheny campus and received a confirmation email. I wonder if the emails are sent out to everyone at the same time because I've received confirmation more than once and so have a few of my classmates and the emails are generic. What GPA does everyone have here?

I just saw this newspaper article about a new agreement that CCAC has with Carlow for an RN-BSN program: Carlow, CCAC ink agreements for nursing, other students | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Does anyone know of other RN-BSN programs that CCAC graduates typically enter? I know that there are many options, but I would want an RN-BSN program that has the best transfer of credits and accelerated completion. I was interested in Pitt's RN-MSN program, but it looks as if Pitt wants to transfer some classes that CCAC does not offer.

Here are some more details about the CCAC/Carlow agreement: http://www.carlow.edu/12441.aspx

Of course, I also know about the CCAC/CalU partnership.

Are any of you thinking ahead to the BSN after you (hopefully) are accepted to and finish at CCAC?

Hi tillybiff! I have been looking into the RN-BSN and RN-MSN programs as well after I hopefully get into the CCAC program.. I am definitely interested to know more about it. I already have a BS and an MS in another field, so I am curious to know whether a BSN would be worth it on its own or if I would be better off getting the MSN or what. I guess I don't have a very good feel yet for what the benefit of all the different levels of degrees are considering how much it costs to get them. (since I'm already in debt from the first time around for a career I don't intend to use :( lol )

I am definitely interested in this CCAC-Carlow bridge. Do you think they will give us more information at orientation? In the link tillybiff provided, it says "students will be simultaneously admitted to Carlow's RN-BSN program". If it's something I have to be doing at the same time, I wouldn't want to miss any class registration deadlines, etc. I assume they will help guide us through the process, though.

I looked at some of the old forums and it seems that most people don't get their letter of acceptance or denial until about the 18th of April. I'm hoping we get ours sooner than that....all this waiting makes me impatient!

Hi!

I also applied for the Nursing Program at CCAC (Night/Weekend at Allegheny), and am just wondering if anyone has heard anything yet?? I am literally going insane with worry, as I missed the deadline for UPMC Shadyside because surprisingly CCAC was my first choice and I wanted to see what happened here (it was a lot cheaper).

I am more concerned because I received a letter from the Admissions office saying they were missing my transcripts for a class, but when I called they said they had it. I'm hoping they updated it and they never return my calls so you know, here's me having a panic attack.

Any insight would be wonderful! :)

Haven't heard anything yet but hopefully will soon. I've looked at a few of the old forums( for when people applied for last fall) and noticed a ton of people got their letters on the 18th of April. I'm hoping we get ours sooner than that
