Hey all! As our orientation is today, I wanted to start a separate thread so we can all keep in touch and have a single place for questions that are specific to our program. Can't wait to meet everyone today!

Still can't find CPR training. Panic mode will set in as of tomorrow if I don't hear back from the fire dept... And still waiting to get my child abuse background check (sent that in Jun 4th)... And as of last wed, the lab is still working on my titers....not going so good here... :(

Classes are few and far between at fire and EMS agencies if you are in a crunch for time. Office of Education - News & Events (in Oakland good quality instructors) and CPRPITTSBURGH.COM (almost weekly classes in Mckees Rocks and Carnegie quick and fun classes) are two places I have used and recommend for CPR classes. Hope this helps!

:( this might be a long shot, but try at the Pittsburgh mills mall if you live close, I was up there yesterday and saw a sign about CPR classes. I know the alle-kiski medical center's destination wellness did have BLS for health care providers for a while. Their number is (724) 274-5202.

Yeah, I still haven't heard back from the fire dept (called 3 times in the last week, including yesterday) and no one's called me back. Now I have to pull 78$ from thin air to take the class on Jul 1st with enjoyCPR. Gonna have to borrow it from my mother in law. Called my doctor yesterday to see if my titers got back yet from the lab... When I went in for my 2nd TB test ( actually to get it read) they only had the results for hep C.... And nothing else yet. They were all still pending. This whole thing is stressing me out so much. I tried uploading my physical and they denied it cuz the immunization part wasn't filled out (they weren't done yet) even though for each immunization u need to show the titers results individually. Plus I still haven't received anything back yet for my child abuse clearance. Only the fingerprinting. Ugh!!! I need all of this done by next week cuz I'm going to myrtle beach with my kids on the 5th. Won't get back until the 12th.

I had my titers drawn on June 9 & just got them back in the mAil yesterday, how long have you been waiting?

It's my understanding you take all immunizations and titers and TB test to the physical because the doctor has to sign the bottom of the TB form. Am I wrong? And what exactly do they do in the physical? Just curious how they establish we are fit and can lift 50 pounds.

I'm getting my physical done at medexpress & they are doing my tb test there, but yes the doctor has to sign off on all the titers. &or vaccines too..they probably have a baseline for qualifications, if somebody isn't able to lift atleast 50lbs then nursing probably isn't a good career choice, Im an aide & I've lifted over 150lbs with the help of a nurse.

The physician has to sign the TB test results too? I submitted mine to CP already and they were accepted without a signature.

I don't think they have to sign off on the tb, I'm just getting my tb test at medexpress, but whoever read your tb results should have signed off on it

Does anyone have any idea how much or about how much books will cost?
