CCAC Boyce Fast Track Fall 2014

Hey all! As our orientation is today, I wanted to start a separate thread so we can all keep in touch and have a single place for questions that are specific to our program. Can't wait to meet everyone today!

Yes there are. Under the specific headings you can download forms. For the drug test you click on it and then you get an email if your pdf to print out. You have to expand each individual criteria to get the information and the forms. So for fingerprint if you expand "date registered with cogent" there should be a link to resister and get your fingerprints done. All you have to do for those is type in the date that you registered and the date that you got your fingerprints done. Then when your scans come back you have to upload them to the site. For PA clearances, under the first option "download the clearance form" there will be a little blue link that says download form or something like that and you click it and it should open as a pdf. This is the the same as the fingerprint where you have to enter dates that you sent them out. The clinical requirements section is a little trickier, there are 2 or 3 forms that you have to download depending on your flu shot. The first option says "nursing student health examination form" When you expand that option near the bottom of the description is has a blue link that says nursing student health examination form. When you click on the link the file with download. This is your physical form and what you will use to show that you have tetorifice and other vaccinations. The other form is under the TB test tab and the last form is under influenza tab, but you only need this if you opt out of getting a flu shot. I hope that helps and wasn't too confusing.

Thank you, I'll check it out when I get home, I just bought a MacBook Pro so I'm still getting used to using that compared to a PC, I'm having trouble opening PDFs for some reason..when does everything have to be done by?

Thank you so much! I got everything printed out, you were a huge help! :)

Did anyone get their titers done yet? If so, did you get the hep b & c vaccines or just the titers for them? I'm not sure if I was more confused or the lady at the health dept!

I had my titers done at the health dept 2 weeks ago. I just got the hep b vaccine, no titer. It was kind of confusing, and the lady was so confused and kept saying, your not that old, we have to have a record on you! But alas there wasn't one, so more vaccines for me.

Ya that's why I'm asking because the lady was so confused & unsure of herself so it kinda confused me too! She ended up telling me to get titers for them instead of the vaccine bc of my age so now I'm kinda worried I should have got the shot instead!

The reason I got the shot was because our form requires the dates you recieved all three shots. Is there any way for you to contact your elementary school, high school, pediatrician or any college you attended that required the hep b shot (like if you lived in the dorm). They may still have your records. If not you need to start the series again even if you are immune. I tried to get my records but they are all destroyed. You may get lucky though.

I talked to my Dr, and she said hep B is generally given to adults. So u probably didn't get it as a child or teenager. So I got my physical and 1st tb test and the 1st of 3 hep B vaccines. How many tubes of blood did they take for the titers? I'm a fainter, so I just wanna be prepared for how long I have to sit in that chair struggling against tunnel vision. Lol

2 tubes of blood, it was very fast, I hate needles, don't have a clue how I'm gonna work up the nerve to stick people with them when I'm a nurse lol

thank you... I can handle two. Poking others is easy.. my son has cancer and I have to give him injections every night to stimulate his bone marrow cuz the chemo wipes out his immune system

I'm sorry to hear that! I wish him all the best! :) I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant, daily shots to myself were horrible lol

Just wanted to check in on everyone! Hope all is going well with finishing the certified background requirements and that everyone is relaxing before we get started in less then 2 months!
