iam currently doing a canadian lpn program but will be moving to england at the completion of the program what will job opportunities be like

Specializes in Advanced Practice, surgery.

As an LPN there will be no job opportunities as I doubt the NMC will recognise your qualification.

Take a look at the international forums and at the NMC requirements for overseas nurses for more details

Specializes in Community Health, Med-Surg, Home Health.

Moved to Canadian Nurses Forum to increase chance of responses.

It should probably be in the UK thread.

LPNs in Canada are what used to be known as a SEN in the UK. They no longer exist. The UK encouraged (and I believe paid for the education) of SENs to bridge into the SRN (our RN) back in the early '90s.

You need permission to work in the UK (preferably having EU citizenship) and you'll be working as an NA because your qualifications won't be recognized.

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.

Moved to the UK forum. This topic isn't something that the average Canadian nurse will have any knowledge of.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

nmc actually state on their website that they will not accept lpn

we will not accept your application if you are a second level nurse or the equivalent, for

example an enrolled nurse, a licensed practical nurse, a vocational nurse, a state certified

nurse, a nursery nurse, a nurse midwife technician, a nurse aid and so on.
