Care Plan Salary

Published

Hi everyone!

I was approached by my DON to become an interim Care Plan Coordinator until my SNF can hire a new one.

I love doing Care Plans so I want to accept. The only issue is that instead of paying me hourly to do them, our Director wants to pay me per Care Plan done. He even gave me full reign on the price per Care Plan.

Any suggestions on what I should charge? I can not figure it out for anything!

I really have no idea. $200 a care plan?? Hopefully someone will give you some real advice.

I would say figure out how long it takes to do each care plan and compute a total per care plan that equals a reasonable hourly wage.

I would tell him that it's not possible to do it piecework as the individual assessment and planning can vary so much, therefore you would like to pe paid in the realm of other professional care planners at $80/hour or $40/hour if this is a benefited position. You can cite comparables as Esme has provided them.

Then shut up and see what he says. Be willing to negotiate downwards (but keep this to yourself until he starts to negotiate) until you reach a level that gives you a good living. Does he have a max on hours per week for this? You can use that as a guide. In general, I'd give you a 20% raise over what you've been getting as a staff nurse.
