hello everyone! so i already took the nclex twice and haven't passed it. i was an average student and graduated in summer 2008. i'm really embarrassed about failing twice because most people who graduated with me passed the first time and i don't want to sign up to take it again because i'm beyond scared to fail again, i'm really really down on myself! if anyone has any helpful hints on how to get prepared again let me know... i've been studying exam cram and saunders a lot.
my 2nd problem is that with the economy being the way it is i am still in retail and broke! i know i can't work as a graduated nurse since i already failed, but i can work as a cna since i graduated school right? i'm not sure but i thought that was the case. and if that's true does anyone know how i would go about getting a certificate for being a cna?
any answers would be fantastic! =)
thanks for your time!

the last questions you have about becoming a cna etc. are questions to be answered by your state's bon. some states require you to actually take the class and exam; graduating nursing school is not enough. while others allow you to be one after one semester of nursing school. gl!

Sorry to hear that you didn't pass the Nclex for the 2nd time! Don't give up. You might want to check into some other study tools. Some of the others on here have tried Suzanne's plan as well as Kaplan and some other things.
Nursing school is very tough. You have came so far, just keep going forward! You can do it!!!!

Kosmo0812: Don't give up on your dream.. It takes hard work to get your license and you finished nursing school which was not a peice of cake. Take a break and start again, maybe this time get a study buddy or as others have suggested, try and do Suzanne's plan, many others on this site have had success using it. Good Luck:twocents:

Hi, I'm kind some way too. I couldn't pass at first one 2weeks ago, and getting scared to take a NCLEX again.
right now, I'm littke slow down to think what I should do. I think I may take a Kaplan class to see other people are doing and maybe talk to instructor about it.
You may need little break. But you are not alone and graduate school is one of the most hard thing. You did this! You can do it!!!!!!!! again, you are not alone.:heartbeat
Thanks, I really appreciate it.. It's hard to be proud of graduating when I just keep letting myself down with this test! Very dissapointed in myself and thats a pretty crappy feeling. I think I'll look into the Suzannes Plan. Thanks soo much for your help =)

Hey!!! Don't give up! Just keep on pressing...I don't know how else or what else to say to encourage you. I've been working as a housekeeper and there are days that i really feel discouraged but i just kept on pressing...
i took my nclex last friday and earlier i found out i passed...
You too will be able to do it...just don't give up...forget about how the number of times you fell...that's just a number...when we are RN's we are not asked for the number of times we took the nclex but we're asked if we have a license!

Okay so I am still a student and nowhere near ready to go for my N-Clex, but I agree with everyone else here as well. Do not give up. I do however think it is a great idea for you to move from retail to healthcare while you are preparing for your next go at the N-Clex. In my state as soon as you have passed your first semester of nursing school you are eligible to test for a CNA. You still have to pass the tests for CNA, but you do not have to take a CNA course. CNA's dont make a lot, it might even be a pay cut, but sometimes working in healthcare and seeing some of the concepts you've elarned in real life scenarios makes it easier to retain and apply those concepts on tests..

Hi I know how you feel. I am a PN graduate, took my exam on october, and i failed. I was very disappointed and cried but with the support of my family i got over it and felt better. I am now scheduled to take my 2nd exam for feb 27 with my nursing classmate. I still feel scared that i might fail again but then i thought giving up will only make it worse cause then i went to school for nothing.
Yes, with the economy looking very bad i too need a job. Ive been searching online for jobs and i found out that my hospital here is hiring Nurse Aide for the ccu and emergency deprtment . For this position you dont have to be certified (CNA) as long as you have experience working for the similar position or you graduated as practical nursing. (for the nurse aid position in the emergency department, no experience required or you dont have to be a nursing graduate) In my case i dont have any work experience in medical field but i graduated as PN so they accepted my application and told me that they would call me if they would like to interview me. Im praying that they would hire me cause i also think that this would be a good experience. Just thought i would share you this..
I hope you find a job and dont give up on your exam. This test doesnt really measure how good we are and how we do on the real world right, its just a darn test that we need to get over with. Good luck!

I feel you on this one. Ive failed 3 times and it doesnt get easier. I need a job as well and I've applied for CNA positions and still can't get hired! I'm sick of hearing.."why are you applying for this job" Very frustrating.. but Ive decided I cant keep concentrating on a job and money or I will never pass this thing. I think half my stress of this is causing me to fail!

Please don't be discouraged if you did not pass the NCLEX even for how many times.Just don't give up on your dream as a nurse. This is just another barrier in life that you should surpass.Failing it is not the end of it all, but it is just a beginning of a new facet of your life.....Make this as an instrument to strive harder and prove to yourself that you can beat this challenge.Wishing you all the best.....Goodluck
