BCIT January 2018 Intake

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hello everyone!

Now that the 2018 January applications are open, I thought that a thread should be started about it.

To those that are wondering, I'm applying with:

A&P 1 - A-

A&P 2 - A-

Psychology - A-

English - A-

Physics (elective 1) - A-

Philosophy (elective 2) - B

So, overall I'm applying with a 3.55 GPA. I have no previous degree, or relevant work experience. However, I do have relevant volunteer experiences.

I'm so nervous about my chances getting in. How are you guys feeling? What are your grades like?

Good luck to us all! :)

and i think it is only possible to apply to one intake

Hey aaaibra, I went onto my BCIT account to work on my saved application and saw the information written in the finish an application” section. It says, To be considered for a program, you need to submit a fully completed application that meets all entrance requirements. The sooner you submit your application, the better your chances of being offered a place in the program”. Also, I found that my application was not saved, I guess you have to complete and submit the application in one go. Anyone else experience the same?

Hey all!

Thought I would join in the conversation, I am SO EXCITED to apply to nursing school! As all of you are I am sure..

I am applying with accumulative 3.14 GPA. Roughly 34 uni credits toward a Health Science degree (some A- and B+ scattered across the board), solid work experience in health care, and related volunteer experience with children. I also took the LIBS classes already. I am not looking to get a a health degree just to get another degree.. does not seem logical to me time wise and financially. I have seen some previous threads on applying to BCIT, so I have a decent idea of what to expect through the next couple months and I am excited to talk with all of you through the process.. gonna be a nail biter for sure!

I am wondering how much you all wrote for the questionnaire? It did not specify any word limit that I could see so I gave a couple sentences and a brief paragraph on "about me".

I wonder if we can apply to both as well... ? I am thinking it would say on the website or maybe to call or email... I might just email them to find out

Hello everyone, is the admission GPA based only on the prerequisites or is it based on your accumulative university GPA? I called BCIT recently and they told me you can't apply to both intakes, but from what I understood you can apply for the April intake when the readmission opens (if you don't get into January intake).

I'm pretty sure that applying earlier in no way helps you. Bcit is a competitive entry program. They wait until the application close date to start going through them as far as i am aware...

As for the April Jan intake I'm not sure

I tried applying to the April 2018 intake, and I wasn't able to. So, I'm assuming that you can't apply to both at the same time. Also, the GPA is based on your prerequisites only.

Hey, for the "about me" section, I wrote about 2-3 sentences. Now looking back, I wish I wrote more before I submitted my application.

Hey guys, I am pleased to read all of your comments so far. I have been checking this forum from last intakes and got very helpful information from previous applicants as well as emailing the program advising department for my personal questions about Nursing.I have both relevant work and volunteer experience which is i guess a good thing. And my grades are also above average, retake some classes here and there to get better mark. I am just nervous the same as everyone However, i am worried for my post-secondary credits since I think i may not have enough to be considered as a competitive applicant but i was reassured by the advisor that having a bachelor's degree or large number of credit does not guarantee acceptance, instead they are looking for well-rounded students that will fulfill all requirements and based from their experiences. Still, i don't know haha i haven't even applied yet but it feels like my heart is gonna burst from nervousness. And btw, I went to the recent info session for Health Sciences (Nursing wasnt discussed), only MRI and other health departments are present though it gave me some insight what they were looking for and clarified that it doesn't matter if students apply earlier or much later; they said that even if we submit our application the day before the deadline, it is still good as long as we have a strong application. Feel free to ask me if there are other questions or vice versa. Goodluck to all :)

Oh my god, here we go, I finally applied! Wishing everyone best of luck!

How do applicants know what courses are transferable for the program? Is there a list online that we have access to? Thanks!!

https://www.bcit.ca/files/admission/pdf/bsn_general_education_requirement.pdf or you can try looking on bc tansfer guide which courses you've taken from another schools that's acceptable by BCIT. Hope this helps!
