BCIT January 2018 Intake

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hello everyone!

Now that the 2018 January applications are open, I thought that a thread should be started about it.

To those that are wondering, I'm applying with:

A&P 1 - A-

A&P 2 - A-

Psychology - A-

English - A-

Physics (elective 1) - A-

Philosophy (elective 2) - B

So, overall I'm applying with a 3.55 GPA. I have no previous degree, or relevant work experience. However, I do have relevant volunteer experiences.

I'm so nervous about my chances getting in. How are you guys feeling? What are your grades like?

Good luck to us all! :)

Hello!

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to EVERYONE because just going through this thread has answered MANY of my questions but I was wondering for those who have already applied (or may have gone through the admissions process in the past), does BCIT not require references for volunteer/work experience? Is that something they ask for later on in the application process or is it simply not required?

Hello!

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to EVERYONE because just going through this thread has answered MANY of my questions but I was wondering for those who have already applied (or may have gone through the admissions process in the past), does BCIT not require references for volunteer/work experience? As far as I know, BCIT nursing does not ask for reference letters. I asked someone who was on the BCIT admissions committee if submitting a reference letter with my application would strengthen it, and she said that it was pointless to do so just because they receive so many, and it would be too time consuming to verify all of them. So, BCIT Nursing Admissions doesn't even bother to look at reference letters.

Hey, I was just wondering once they have decided if you are in the program or not do they email you or mail you?

I think they send an email to your BCIT account. I remember reading on a previous intake forum that someone got accepted, but didn't know it since they never checked their BCIT email, so they didn't get in since they didn't give a response in time.

The notice letters of Acceptance, passing the questionnaire, or rejection, not passing, will send out right away. The rest of applicants passing the questionnaire but don't have outstanding credits will keep waiting.

Hi.

I applied for the January 2018 intake, and indicated that I also am interested in the 2018 intake. I am worried about my GPA. My prerequisite courses GPA is about 3.2 while my cGPA is 2.7. Which one do you think they look at more extensively? Also for anyone who is applying you can substitute your high school prereqs for any university level courses.

Hey, I have the same situation regarding GPAs. I have read some of the posts from previous intakes that they not only look at our GPA, but also our related experiences and most likely they will chose candidates who they deem to be succesfful in nursing.

I finally applied!! and it's totally making me nervous. Best of luck to everyone :)

Does anyone mind sharing how many credits they have in total? :)

So far, I have 34 credits from both BCIT and other school but I'm still waiting for my Summer transcript since I took classes this semester.

Hey everyone,

I'm applying for the April intake - finishing up an self paced A and P course so it'll be cutting it down to the last week of application deadlines.

Any advice on the application?

My GPA isn't phenomenal - about 3.0-3.2 (I went to school in the states and have obtained my B.S in Exercise Science, but am a Canadian Citizen). I'm having to redo my A and P because it's been more than 3 years.

But as far as work/volunteering experience, I work for a health authority in their staffing department, volunteer in the emergency room once a week and have previous volunteer experience in a Residential home, hospital visits and Exercise Therapy with individuals with undergoing Cancer treatments.

Hoping it's enough - advice would be very much appreciated!

Hi guys,

So I have received a new email from Admissions. Anyone also received the same email stating that their application is under Department Assessment?
