My LVN school implemented a new rule that we have to take proctored tests at the school site before they pay and schedule my nclex, but i had already graduated from the school and even picked up my diploma because my tuition fees were also paid and up to date....can the school make me do this??? Nowhere in the contract was this listed and they put it into practice after i passed the exit exam the first try with a very high score.

Lol. It's a good read. Makes me glad it's locked because I would've put my .02¢ in! I was scrolling & came upon it. Found it!: "CNA's perform nursing tasks, but are not technically nurses".

According to the school they sent the transcripts but refuse to pay for the test or schedule my appointment when my approval letter comes.....the other students are mad because this is not the first time they change what was "Mandatory" for us to graduate..we had to take an exit test that was not mentioned in the contract when we started, these other tests were not brought up till after our graduation ceremony and after we had our certificates in hand... the school has a very low pass rate on nclex but when you are at the school you see why right away..now both assitant DONs (day & evening/weekend) for the school have left because of all the things going on there

Its not one test...it is two 105 question tests and two 250 questions A Week till my approval letter gets here.So that is 20 hours a week.if it was one test i would have taken the thing like i did the others that were not on our contract .. Believe me i have complied with this school up until this.....but this is above and beyond what was required...if i kept my side of the contract then looking into a lawyer or contacting the Bon like other users suggested would be better time spent and most likely less time consuming....

And, once again, I have to wonder ... Why do people keep attending and paying tuition to these "schools" when they have serious concerns about the quality of the education they are getting and problems with the school??? It just enables the low quality programs to stay in business.

Can you afford the application fee & nclex fee? If so send a certified letter stating that since you graduated you will be seeking reimbursement from the school for the fee as the contract terms were changed post graduation. Take & pass the nclex. If necessary involve the BoN and state department of higher education and whatever accrediting agencies. You may need to file in small claims court. If your papers are there you can register and pat yourself. The longer you wait post graduation the likelihood of passing drops dramatically.

If they refuse to reimburse file complaints with the agencies listed above and seek punitive damages you may need to file with the US DoE if you received financial aid

Getting the lawyer involved may end up being very expensive. But if they are holding you hostage so to speak, perhaps getting him to send a strongly worded cease and desist letter would do the trick. If I understand correctly, they are refusing to send the necessary paperwork to the BON so that you can receive permission to take the NCLEX?

If the students are all mad, consider creating a group petition, state something that points out that the school is in breach of contract and using coercion; for example the tests required by (school name) are not a part of the terms and conditions of the school contract and we the students of the 2015 graduating class, do not wish to write the exams but fear the loss of our ability to become licensed nurses and the loss of our future livelihoods. Make lines below with student name, signature and date. Make copies of the petition, give each student a copy, submit original to the school director (watch her head explode).

Just curious, what was the rationale provided by the school for demanding you all take additional tests after graduation?

Pass rate VERY low!! Two teachers were incompetent and our last teacher had to chatch us up 6months on what the other teacher should have taught us....it was a mess...i ended up paying for the test myself and passed the first try.....now they wont stop hounding me..lol

Thank you for your kind words and respect..yes you are right, before this opportunity came to me i made minimum wage with an abusive husband and 2 kids..i thank God for the divorce because that allowed me to attend school..and for something i love...so yes i had to do it fast and half kill myself from exhaustion for a year and a half while i worked, went to school, took care of my kids and went through a HORRIBLE divorce all at the same time, but IT WAS WORTH IT ...i wonder how CardiacDork would have handled it? Either way my kids and i DID IT!!!! THANK YOU FOSTERCATMOM 💖💖💖
