My LVN school implemented a new rule that we have to take proctored tests at the school site before they pay and schedule my nclex, but i had already graduated from the school and even picked up my diploma because my tuition fees were also paid and up to date....can the school make me do this??? Nowhere in the contract was this listed and they put it into practice after i passed the exit exam the first try with a very high score.
As much I dislike LVN programs- they are outdated and do not serve the nursing need very well, they DO serve a purpose, especially for young single mothers that just need to get started in something. Where did OP say, by the way, she did NOT go to a 'brick and mortar school'? She most certainly did, I believe she said she lives an hour away. Isn't nice you had the luxury and ability to go to a brick and mortar school? Why didn't you go right into a 4 year program? Why did you ONLY go to a 2 year program? Did it serve a need for you? There are thousands of nurses who went right into a BSN program. Don't be so snobby...you don't know where she lives or what her circumstances are. I know many LVNs or LPNs that just needed to get started and they kept going for their RN, they just needed income and it was the right balance for them. Maybe there isn't a school around her she could afford. Its sounded by her comment that she is probably in an assistance program of some kind. Be grateful for what you have, and don't be so callous towards other people- nursing 101.
Lol. I think you read too deep into my post. I didn't need a lecture or dissertation from you. Care to take your hurt feeling elsewhere? Thanks!

I find your post more offensive than CardiacDork's.
But before this train gets derailed, I would just take the tests.

I didn't mean to like this-I wanted to quote this and say LVN programs are NOT outdated...but Organized Chaos summed it up pretty well. :)
I never bashed graduates from non traditional schools. I simply think that brick and mortar education causes less headaches in terms of licensing and future advancement. This was a statement not geared at the quality of education provided by non traditional programs but at the headaches that may accompany such programs such as incredibly high tuition, problems getting into graduate school, problems sitting for NCLEX, and so forth.
Everyone follows the path that is best for them and I wish them success so as long as they are safe and competent.
