HI, I HAVE BEEN A LPN FOR 3 YEARS. AFTER PASSING THE BOARDS I WENT INTO PRIVATE DUTY NURSING IN THE HOME. I HAVE WORKED IN LTC FACILITIES IN THE VERY BEGINNING, BUT CHOSED HOMECARE DUE TO THE FLEXIBILITY. I WANT TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL THROUGH EC BUT IM WONDERING WITH NO HOSPITAL EXPERIENCE IS IT POSSIBLE TO PASS THE CPNE? OR DO YOU SUGGESTION THAT I GET MORE EXPERIENCE WORKING ON THE FLOOR IN A LTC BEFORE TAKING THE CPNE???? ALL SUGGESTIONS GREATLY APPERCIATED:nuke::typing

In a word, yes.

i would say yes of course you can! out of lpn school i went right into asthma & allergy research and then became a pulmonology tech. (i do breathing tests). you make the most of what is givien to you...i listened to many many lung sounds and counted pulse etc...to prepare for the cpne.

i know you might think you have to have had some kind of med/surg lpn background, which i would say is a bonus if you have had that experience, however take the cpne workshop and buy the skills bag, develope your organizational plan (mnemonics/grid), go to a workshop, read allnurses.com cpne posts, go to youtube.com (for visuals on skills) and practice practice!

good luck

Oh, I will! If anyone was willing to give their phone number to an internet nerd person like me, I'd be happy to text a brief day-by-day update, if that is allowed (or if anyone cares! LOL). I get very impatient waiting for people to post their results after 3 days. I'm like a JG Wentworth commercial. "It's my money, and I need it now!"

:yeah:You sound like you may be a bit anal. Like myself. LOL! I will try to PM you my #. Thanks! I bet you are getting excited. Traci:yeah:

P.S. Just give me the recipe for "Microwave Jello"...K?:clown:

Okay I give up. I have been trying to figure out what the CPNE is and still don't know. Can someone help the clueless one?

It's the Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination, which is the clinical testing portion of the Excelsior College ADN program.
