Can ex-President Trump be trusted with America's national security secrets?

When David Priess was a CIA officer, he traveled to Houston, he recalls, to brief former President George H.W. Bush on classified developments in the Middle East.

It was part of a long tradition of former presidents being consulted about, and granted access to, some of the nation's secrets.

Priess and other former intelligence officials say Joe Biden would be wise not to let that tradition continue in the case of Donald Trump.

When he leaves office, can ex-President Trump be trusted with America's national security secrets?

No.

Trump cannot be trusted.

Trump has no honor, ethics, compassion, wisdom or courage.  Trump and each of his corrupt staff and cabinet are corrupt opportunists who have already demonstrated dangerous flaws of judgement and loyalty. They lie with impunity.

I'm certain that a percentage of the population will insist that we give him benefit of the doubt regardless of the evidence.

Trump has had no interest in receiving CURRENT National Security briefings so don't expect future briefs post. 1/20/2021; Expect full security clearance termination  at 12:00.

I wonder what briefing material Ivanka and Jared have access to? Just think of the corrupt and dishonest people with high level clearance who are going to be out of work soon.

Chris Krebs, the former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), was not "necessarily surprised" by firing.  After all, he publicly countered President Trump's claims of election interference,  Wonder what all he will say about Trump and national security secrets.

Trump’s latest Fox News rant was one of his most dangerous. Republicans can’t ignore it. Opinion by the Editorial Board

Either the president is delusional, or he is willing to knowingly tear down the democracy to deny that he is a loser. Either way, everyone else in a position of trust has a responsibility to defend the nation’s democratic system against Mr. Trump’s sustained assault.

Trump is not to be trusted.

Agreed!  Trump is a security risk.  He has shown he cannot be trusted with state secrets as president.  Thus, as a private citizen he is definitely not to be trusted.  In fact, given his financial track record and friendships with dictators, he would not under normal circumstances have received a security clearance had he not become an accidental president.  And so, on January 20, 2021 at noon (I am counting down the hours too) his privileges will be rescinded to never be reinstated.

Biden says Trump should not receive intelligence briefings

Quote

President Biden said Friday that former president Donald Trump should not have access to classified information in the form of the briefings usually given to ex-presidents, citing Trump’s “erratic behavior” and the risk that he might recklessly reveal sensitive information.
Biden stopped short of announcing that he had officially decided to prevent his predecessor from receiving the briefings, which are traditionally given before former presidents travel abroad, particularly in an official capacity. But Biden has the unilateral authority to deny intelligence access to anyone he chooses, and his remarks amounted to a statement that Trump — who for four years controlled the entire U.S. security apparatus — was himself a security risk.

Does anyone have any doubt that Trump can't be trusted with national security details? Anyone?

He owes too much money and has no conscience. He is 'ripe for the picking' from someone interested in his information  and HE would be 'thrilled' at the attention especially from a beautiful woman. Ivanka and Jarrod are very similar and they would sell out anyone for $$$. Trump only wanted briefings in a video or distilled verbal presentation. He would not put in the effort to read anything. He cannot read. If he insists give him pages long writeups. He will still lose interest but would he send them to our enemies? Scary

All of the evidence (at minimum) suggests that Trump shouldn't be trusted. Will republicans act outraged if Trump is denied those briefings?
