California's 2011 New Grad Program

Published

When I saw that Torrence Memorial had closed their applications to their New Grad program starting in March 2011 I realized we needed a new grad 2011 thread! The 2010 thread was a great place to ask questions and get answers about upcoming new grad opportunities. So let's make this thread the same. :)

First off, When did you graduate?

:nurse:

Any old new grads out there? How long have you been looking for a job?

are the new grad positions at UCSD first come first serve? I just applied today...

Haven't heard of any yet but keep watching UCSD. I noticed yesterday they just added two more openings for new grads in med/surg oncology. Last time they did the same thing and posted them in stages. Good luck.

thanks so much! :lol2:

No, as long as you get your application in by the deadlines you are considered with everyone else. Then he first step is to get through the initial screening which could take a while so be patient and keep checking your application status on line. Good Luck!

FYI. In case anyone is searching for UCSD Med/Surg Onc positions, they were canceled per an email I received. The positions in this unit will be offered for a January 2012 start date instead.

Just got another email saying the Med/Surg Onc positions will be filled. Job postings are back up.

I went to Mount St. Mary's College (a private college that offers both ADN and BSN programs...very exspensive)

Anyhow I took the ADN degree, graduated in December, didn't take the NCLEX til June. I applied online to a few Versant programs and only got called to interview for one. I got hired the next day wooo wooo..anyhow, I am enrolled for the RN to BSN program online with Western Govenors University. I recommend it because you can work at your own pace which includes husteling through...http://www.WGU.edu

I have many class mates who also got jobs with an ADN degree..but no joke it is difficult. I think it helped that I had listed on my resume that I was currently enrolled in the RN to BSN program, but they didn't ask about it in the interview. My fellow classmates that got jobs didn't get into a Versant program, but went in and applied in person to smaller community hospitals like Arcadia and Monterey Park. My advice is not to give up the search, enroll in RN-BSN proram, and apply EVERYWHERE on line and/or at the hospital.

Specializes in CVICU, CCU, SICU, MICU.

For your info...I do know that they have started interviewing some of the candidates. I recently got hired (3 weeks ago) in the oncology BMT department and I heard that our floor was doing some interviewing. Good Luck, it's a great!! hospital.

I have some that the status changed to "referred to hiring department" and some that say "application received".

Do you guys know which hospitals are offering RN new grad program this fall!?:)

You canlook up or google Versant RN residency hospitals in California and you can get a list of which hospitals offer the program, then go to each of their web sites and create a profile and look to see when they are taking applications for Fall.

Good Luck
