MT SAC FALL 2018

U.S.A. California

Published

Good evening everyone,

I didn't see a thread for potential Mt sac nursing students applying for Fall 2018. Since, I am from Northern California I think this is the best way for me to connect with the others who are applying.

How many points are you applying with ?

I have mine on the 19th as well! Mine is very late at 5:15 because I have to fly from nor cal to socal.

Hey guys! I got my email for counseling today, and set my appointment for the 20th. When I spoke to the woman I said "does this mean I made it in, or I may potentially make it in?" And she said "You did!" ... but I'm reading through past posts I'm starting to get nervous because of the stuff I'm reading! Can anyone clarify please? Because I was under the impression that I was accepted !! :-/

I'm going to wear something casual. I have mine today, and I have class all day as well.

Would you mind telling me what to expect during the counseling appointment? I have mine tomorrow! Does the counselor kind of hint at where you stand in the list of 100 candidates?

Hello,

So I went to my appointment but apparently they did not have my high school diploma. I thought they already had a copy of it on file or something. I was confused, it did not state that on the website, or to bring it to the appointment. They want my official diploma, so Im bringing that in tomorrow. The counselor rescheduled me for the 7th, very early in the morning. I also asked what my position ranking is, she said they weren't supposed to give out that information out. I was also confused on that because on past post, people would get their ranking info and ect. She said she had all the documents but my HS diploma. She did though tell me that i'm on the higher end because I ended up having 85 points. Overall it was a very comfortable and casual appointment, I would just bring copies of all your documents. I will keep you updated on my rescheduled appointment for tomorrow, hopefully I'll have more luck I can find out more info.

Good thing you were able to reschedule. Thanks for the heads up! And okay thank you for keeping me updated! Hope the appointment tomorrow goes well.

Hello, so I just had my rescheduled appointment. The email does say " In addition, you must submit proof of high school graduation or the equivalent. However, if you have previously earned a degree (associate's or bachelor's) and the degree is posted to your transcript, you will not need to show proof of high school graduation. " I guess I have forgot to read that part. I did bring it in this time though, and they made a copy of it and accepted it. I really did try to get my ranking info, but the councilor said it was against policy. I was able to find out this much. The cut off was in the high 70's, possibly 77-78 for the top 60. The highest points was a 95. The cut off for wait list was around 72. When I asked if I was in because I had an 85, he said most likely yes but because of policy he couldn't give me a comfirmation. The councilor also did not know when orientation starts, he did note that the verification appointments were very early this year. So we might get an acceptance letter in April, rather than traditionally May. Sorry I couldn't find out more about the rankings. But do make sure to bring a diploma if you do not have an AA, or a Bachelors. Don't stress out, it was a fairly brief, friendly, and casual verification appointment. I guess I just have to be patient for my official status. :D

Thankful for these nursing students who float by haha. How do you like your first semester of mt sac nursing? The curriculum? Professors?

i personally do not know anything about Santa Ana and their nursing program, but I if it was up to me I would pick a school based on several factors. Which one cost less tuition wise, which one has a higher rank, which one is closer to me, what campus do I enjoy more, what's the program like?

For me Mt. Sac and Citrus would be my first choice, Rio Hondo would be my second.

How should I prepare for my first semester? Should do an in-depth and extensive review of anatomy and physio? Should I ask for the books ahead of time, so that I can get a head start? What is the first class meeting like? Thank you :)

any other updates from other people who did the interview already?
