CSU San Marcos absn 2009

Hello,

I am new here to allnurses.com so bear with me. I was wondering if anyone applied to the absn program at CSU San Marcos for summer 2009? Have you heard anything back yet?

Yeah, I haven't heard from them to. I'm gettin really anxious. November is so soon yet so far (that's when they told me I should find out)

I applied for Spring 2010 as well. I am taking the TEAS today so should know those scores soon. My pre-nursing core gpa is 3.52 and my overall gpa is unfortunately only 2.7. I hope my TEAS test goes well to make up for my gpa.

TEAS scores are but one of the criteria required for the ABSN program. I would highly recommend that everyone take their TEAS exam and send them in...

we are currently in the process of evaluating all spring 2010 applicants. as soon as your file has been reviewed, you will receive an academic evaluation in the mail. each applicant will receive an individualized advising worksheet showing course requirements completed and outstanding requirements that need to be met. my best advice is to complete the pre-nursing core classes that you know you still need. we hope to be announcing decisions in november 2009 for our january 2010 start. it may be the case that you receive your evaluation with the decision letter as we approach november. hang in there!

They let me know i was accepted for the Spring 2010 ABSN cohort this past friday Oct. 30. So expect your notifications soon Good luck and take care.

Baraj015,

Can I ask how they notified you? Did you get a call or did they send you something in the mail? Just wondering what we should expect....

Did anyone get the academic evaluation that they talk about in this email yet?

I didn't get an evaluation letter, just an email, i did call today and they told me that everything was in though. I got into the temecula campus. glta.

The sent me an email this past friday. The day before they called and asked for my TEAS scores, apparently they never received them. Hopefully it is not a mistake on thier part... I already submitted my intent to enroll and paid the 250$ fee.

I spoke with someone at CSU today and they told me that they were sending out acceptance emails individually, as they reviewed each person's application. She said she couldn't tell me process to determine which applications were reviewed first, but I assume it was either in the order they were received or in order of highest GPA or most number of points or something like that. So anyone else out there that is still waiting, it's not necessarily a bad thing if you haven't heard yet (I hope haha). She said they would let everyone know by at least the end of the month.

Jimmy and Baraj, just wondering if you did really well on the TEAS and if you had really high GPA's. Just trying to get an idea for the range of students they are admitting and if I have a chance or not.

Good luck everyone!

Let's see...I turned my application in, June I believe, when the original date it was due, before the push back to august....as far as TEAS...i got a 91%...GPA...depends if it's overall, i have a like a 3.1 (somewhere around there, it gets all weird when you factor in classes from all over the place and going from a quarter to semester system) If it's only the pre-reqs my GPA shoots way up. I hope that helps. I really didn't want to get into the Temecula campus, but i'll take it. Guess I just gotta look on the positive side and say that my rent should be cheaper while I am in school. PS...does anybody have any idea when school really starts for the spring start?

Thanks Jimmy, that helps a lot actually. Looks like I may have a chance to get in, seeing as our GPA and TEAS scores are pretty similar. Although, I really hope I get into the San Marcos campus. In fact, I don't think I'll be able to go if it is the Temecula campus since I can't move and Im planning on working part time at my job in La Jolla. Even though they discourage working while in the program, I can come and go as I please and even study while Im at work(Im pretty lucky). Does anybody know how they decide who gets into which campus?

Also, I don't know if the ABSN program is the same, but it looks like Spring classes at CSU start January 19th, the day after MLK day.

I got my acceptance email Friday. I got into the Temecula Campus. I was under the impression that they tried to put those that were closer to Temecula in Temecula, and they also put out of state students there also. Its hard because i am going to be living in Escondido like 5 mins from SM Campus :( Hopefully at the orientation we can all figure out people's locations and maybe put together a carpool. I requested to be moved to the SM campus if a spot opened and they said they put me on a waitlist, but then today I got an email stating that they have inacted a new policy stating whatever campus you were originally accepted to is final. No changes. Oh well i guess... it was painstaking enough waiting to hear back from them, im just glad im in. Good luck to everyone!!

Oh and a side note about financial aid. I called about getting information for when they will let us know about the awards and they said they cant pull the FAFSA info until I am enrolled as a student at CSUSM. So for those of you who are not already students there, we have to wait until EL lets us enroll at the college. I was assured that our fees will be deferred so we can attend Spring classes until they have processed our FAFSAs.
