Hello,

I am new here to allnurses.com so bear with me. I was wondering if anyone applied to the absn program at CSU San Marcos for summer 2009? Have you heard anything back yet?

What is the differnece between San Marcos and Temecula? It seems like everyone wants to go to San Marcos. I don't know the area so can't compare them. I just feel lucky to be going to Nursing school in CALIFORNIA and not waiting 2 years to start. Oh! how expensive is the living down there if anyone knows.

My name's Megan and I got accepted into the spring 2010 absn program as well. I'm from the bay area too! Does anyone know anything about the Temecula area? I'm going to need a place to rent but have no idea what areas are close to the school or what the good areas to rent from are! Please let me know!

Well, haven't been to temecula really, but i know san marcos is a lot closer to the beach, it's closer to the coast than temecula is, so i know as far as weather is concerned, it'll be warmer on hot days.

I got into the San Marcos campus... looks like there are only 2 of us on here so far.

I think that the reason that most people seem to prefer the San Marcos campus is because it is alot closer to a) the coast and b) the greater San Diego area. For those of us that already live in "San Diego", going to Temecula would be quite a commute. It would be at least an hour for me. I honestly don't know all that much about Temecula because I've only been there a handful of times, mostly to visit the wineries and go wine tasting. From what I have seen there isn't a whole lot to speak of, but the nice thing will be that rent will be cheaper! I remember it being very pretty and scenic, but def not a bustling metropolitan area.

I got into the Temecula campus as well. Sounds like a lot of us are going to be looking for a place to live. Maybe at the orientation next month we can ask around and maybe all go out for coffee or something after or exchange emails and if anyone is interested in looking for a place together. Personally, I have been looking for places in the San Marcos/Escondido area. Its about a 25 min drive, but I am not really excited about living in Temecula, there isnt a whole lot there, and I would rather be near a little more civilization and the beach. Plus, im not sure what kind if ammenities are at the Temecula campus, like a library, computer lab, or cafeteria, etc... and if our clinicals are gonna be in the SD area, it will be closer then commuting from Temecula...so looking for a place near San Marcos will be more conducive for using the facilities on campus, etc...

Im really looking forward to meeting all you Temecula peeps!! We're all gonna be in for a rough couple of years, but I am so excited about the cohort system and that we all get to take the same classes together.

I think the rent in Temecula will be so much cheaper, so I think I will be looking for an apartment there. I live in Sacramento so I'm going to fly down the day before orientation to look for a place to live. I don't want to have to fly back down, rent another car and stay in a hotel for a second time. I also think I read on the Temecula info that clinicals will be around the Temecula area, but I could be wrong, maybe its around San Marcos. I've been looking on line at 1 bedroom apartments, but I would be open to rent a 2 bedroom is someone wants a roommate. By the way I'm curious how old everyone is?

I thought the same thing about rent. From what i've seen tho, its pretty much the same as rent in San Marcos/Escondido although there are some pretty shady areas in Escondido. I've been looking for a place for about a month now (just so i have an idea of how much its gonna cost) and i havent seen a big difference in price. But while I may not want to live in Temecula, its probably gonna be the smartest thing to do. I am really looking forward to the orientation, I'm hoping to have a much more clear idea of what the program is about, because right now, there are so many questions!

I'm 27 and I got my degree in Exercise Physiology from Chico State! (ive driven through sac many a time :) )

Hi! I just found out this morning that I was accepted to the Temecula campus. Honestly I was caught off guard because it's been so long since I applied, but I'm grateful because most of the programs in my area have stopped accepting applicants with bachelor's degrees. So I'm coming from the Sacramento area... any ideas or recommendations for places to rent? I can't believe I'm going to be moving in about a month! I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed.

I'm up for apartment hunting...just lemme know when, i'm from orange county, so I'm not too far off, i'd be willing to drive too, although i can only fit four more...Uhm as far as rent, i dont' know, but i figure that you'll prolly get the cheapest by putting more people into one place (renting a house? a townhome?...i dunno) and i don't see what could be better than having classmates as aptmentmates....I do know there's a casino right around there..haha that could signal trouble for me...anyways, i'm 26, and from Orange County like I said.

I saw quite a few 4br houses for rent for the tune of about $1400-1500. As I recall the orientation goes from 8-12pm on 12/10 so maybe all of us who are interested could go out after then and check some places out! I'd be down. Im from rancho cucamonga (in the IE)

350-375 a month..that's a pretty good tune..i like the sound of that for my own bedroom..I'm totally down to explore the area after...i guess..haha i'll be easy to find at the orientation..im prolly one of maybe a handful of guys..haha
