california license by endorsement

U.S.A. California

We have all heard how lengthy the California licensing by endorsement can be. I haven't found any new updated threads on this. What's your experience been in the California license by endorsement process?… I'm from NY and sent in my license for endorsement a month ago, which was the middle of December 2015. I think I'm looking at another 3 months from now. I didn't apply for the temporary license. They haven't cashed my check yet.

What's your status and how's the process going for you?

Thanks.

hi all,

the timelines are super helpful.

I submitted everything with livescan electronically on Oct 7 so tomorrow will be 3 weeks. Thanks to everyone's help I got the idea to additionally submit my SSN card copy, passport copy etc and also all of my old transcripts.

Does anyone have any other tips? Any recent timelines? Also what do I do in the meanwhile?? I have 6 figures of student loan debt and need to start working ASAP!

Thanks in advance!

I am a practicing NP in WA and have an employment opportunity in CA. Can anyone give me insight as to whether I apply for both the RN and NP licenses at the same time? It makes sense, as otherwise to process each individually could take approximately 10-12 weeks for RN and another 12-14 weeks for NP licensure (according to current CA BON time estimates).

You can apply for the RN and NP licenses at the same time. You must also apply for a Furnishing at the same time. Calif allows you to apply for temp licenses at the same time and those will come in faster. Read the application instructions carefully.

Hi there, just wanted to contribute my timeline since all of these helped me when was getting antsy and waiting.

Oct 26- Submitted application online, I was out of state so I requested the fingerprint cards. Those took about a week to get to me and I got them done the day I received them and sent them the same day.I emailed the BRN because I started reading that the fingerprint card method took the longest, I explain that I was planning my move in about two weeks so she recommended I just get the live scan finger prints and to write a request for a refund.

Nov 25- I was in California got the live scan fingerprints and then waited...

Dec 13- Checked the breeze account and my application went from pending/open to showing an actual license number.

so that was 5 weeks and 6 days since I submitted the application! I'm still super surprised, but super happy that I can start applying to RN jobs! As far as the refund goes I don't think I'm getting it, but to be honest I'm ok with that

Hi everyone!!!

Do I need to take any classes/courses for CA RN license if I have BSN in NY?

thanks

Hi, I got registered in NY and got my license endorsed in CA and didnt need any additional classes.

This thread helped me a lot when it felt like my license would never come.

10/7- I applied in CA w livescan prints

11/8 around a month later I checked and it had my license number upper right corner instead of pending. I had started checking every day and really wasn't expecting it to happen so fast as the BON website was quoting 1012 weeks,

Good luck!

Thank you very much for your respond!!!

Can't wait to move to CA!!!!

I currently hold a FL Multi State Compact license, but am hoping to get a CA license by endorsement. I've seen conflicting info about education requirements that the board requires? Anyone know how this applies to endorsement applicants? Is there a list somewhere of required classes? Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I just started this process earlier this week. Does anyone know if ONLY the nursing school needs that additional transcript request form? I took my pre-reqs at multiple schools and nursing was my 2nd degree. Doesn't seem like the other schools need the form since it is specific to nursing, but please let me know otherwise. If anyone else has any questions I will also be glad to answer as I'm in the process currently.

Does anyone know if California BON accept CGFNS CES or should I get the transcript directly from school to BON? Due to this COVID crisis my school is still close and not sure if when will they reopen.

By the way, I am foreign grad. I know this is an old post, I’m just hope someone can help me. Thanks

Hmmm don't they have a way to order and download your transcript electronically? I dont know what a CES is. Maybe if you have an un-official transcript they will accept it due to the circumstances.

As far as I know, CA BON is stringent when it comes to credentials especially for foreign graduates, hence, they only accept the transcript of records evaluated by CGFNS- CES. I suggest you contact them directly through email.
