california license by endorsement

U.S.A. California

We have all heard how lengthy the California licensing by endorsement can be. I haven't found any new updated threads on this. What's your experience been in the California license by endorsement process?… I'm from NY and sent in my license for endorsement a month ago, which was the middle of December 2015. I think I'm looking at another 3 months from now. I didn't apply for the temporary license. They haven't cashed my check yet.

What's your status and how's the process going for you?

Thanks.

Hi everyone,I applied for California licensure by endorsement since April 14th and I'm yet to see my license information in my breeze account nor have I gotten any correspondence from them till now. I have been calling every week to follow up but the representatives keep telling to wait till my time frame. The processing time was updated today and it's moved past my time frame but still yet to see any update on my license information. I called the license office today and I was told my file will be re- forwarded again which have been told severally. I've asked to speak with my evaluator countless times and was told I can't speak with him/her except I have correspondence. On the two occasions I was transferred to speak with the evaluator, no one picked the call and I left voice message but got no response.

At this point, I'm really confused because I do not know what is causing the delay and I'm seeking people's opinion on what I should do next on this process.

Thank you,

I think you just need to wait at this point. My license recently posted and it happened after the processing dates had also moved ahead of my application date. Mine took a month after being within the processing time to be posted. I notice the processing times seem to be moving more slowly recently so everything will likely be slower. I would give it at least another month and then follow up again.

I do have an entity number, do you guys know how long it will be processes? thank you

Hi all,

I wanted to post my timeline so that I could be of help to others in search of some sort of reference (although I realize there doesn't seem to be any consistency to any part of this process)

5/8/18 - contacted nursing school to send transcripts (this took a few days for them to gather before they were mailed out)

5/10/18 - submitted online application through Breeze for permanent license, requested Nursys verification

5/22/18 - Manual fingerprint cards delivered to BON, per USPS tracking info (I only filled out one of the cards, sent the other back blank)

7/17/18 - License number posted

9 weeks and 5 days total, from when my online application and payment was processed.

I never contacted the BON, deficiencies were never noted on my account, nor did my status ever go blank or change from open/pending.

My license was processed within the correct processing time frame that is currently posted on their site.

Hope this is helpful to some, and sending positive processing vibes your way!

350 is just the cali nursing fee, the live scan fee another 50, sure I already paid 15 for my electronic official transcripts but thats not good enough, they have to have it electronically sent to them not from you, cause your a liar, then 30 to nursye to verify that your a nurse in that state, lets see, 90, +350, lets not forget that 2x2 passport picture you'll ,need as well. I did a live finger print scan here in california for the state of Hawaii, you think that's on record from the DOJ? yes it is but they still want another 50 dollars anyway, when the hell does the nickel and diming ever stop? honestly i could care a less about being an RN, i have a license from the state of Hawaii, but to endorse it here, it'd probably just be easier to have coffee with the lord, **** this proffession

Can someone help? I am in a tricky situation. I applied and got my temporary license by endorsement back in March 2018. Then I got a letter saying that I need to send my transcripts that show I took oral communication, psychology, and social science classes. I already sent in all my transcripts but whoever the evaluator was didn't think they match the requirement. Anyway, my temporary license will expire in September and I have submitted a justification letter to BON a while ago but haven't heard anything back. I am not sure what to do at this point. Should I visit BON in person and explain?

I just wanted to give people a timeline of my endorsement from PA to CA, as this thread has been incredibly helpful for me. It took about six weeks in total for me.

6/28- Application turned in at Sacramento, Live Scan done in Sac, Transcripts sent, PA verification sent

7/3- Check cashed

8/10- Full License/ Temp License received

During my processing time (which was when my application was received rather than when my check was cashed), I called a couple of times regarding deficiencies on my account on 8/10 and resent my verification and my transcripts on 8/10. CA BON thankfully received all the materials very quickly and promptly granted me my license at the end of the day on 8/10. Everyone was very helpful in my situation and quite efficient.

Hi sourapril!

I am partly on the same boat as you. I have also submitted a letter of justification to BON regarding additional documents from my university. So far they haven't replied yet. Have you heard from them since? Or did you contact BON instead?

The short answer is if you want to get your CA license quickly, have everything in hand (transcript, application, photos, live scan, etc.) and personally deliver it to BRN in Sacramento (yes, it's costly, especially for people who live out of state, but I guarentee you this is the fastest way if you want to be 100% sure that they receive all the necessary documents).

However, I didn't do that and this is what happened to me:

1/12/18, applied online, mailed my fingerprint card, and request all my schools (4 schools total) to send my official transcripts to BRN.

3/12/18 saw my temporary license posted on BreEze (here is where I made the mistake of innocently believing I just needed to wait for a couple more weeks for the permenent one)

3/19/18 got a letter from BRN saying "need transcript reflecting completion of coursework in x, y, and z.

I ignored the letter because I know all my schools mail my transcripts to them.

I was finishing my DNP degree, selling the house, packing, trying to make a cross country move to CA, in short, lots of going on, didn't have the time to look into this matter.

Fast forward, I moved to CA, checked BreEze again in July, the same message.

8/2/18 drove to Sacramento, went to BRN in person, waited for an hour in line. Kimberly at the front desk told me that they never received any of my transcripts (that's $40 down the drain). I asked her what's the most secure way to get my transcripts to them. She told me to bring them in person. (However, if you graduate from a foreign nursing school, you cannot bring your official, sealed transcript in person. It has to be mailed or emailed by your school)

I went home, requested from all four schools again. This time, I asked them to mail the official transcripts to me.

8/13/18, second attempt to go to BRN in person. Waited for 2 hours this time (it was Monday). A different lady came out and took my transcripts. She asked me to wait while she went back to check on my file. 20-25 minutes later, she came back and told me I still don't meet the psychology requirement but what I can do is to have my school email her supervisor and say that psychology was incorporated into my BSN curriculum. I tried to contact my school then, but wasn't able to get a hold of anyone. So I drove all the way back home (2.5 hours)

8/14/18 finally got a hold of someone from my school who was willing to provide the letter (apparently they do this a lot for nurses who move to CA)

8/16/18 saw on BreEze that my permanent license was posted.

So overall it took me 7 months. It didn't have to if BRN didn't lose my transcripts or communicate to me clearly that they didn't receive my transcript. Apparently all the mails that get to send to BRN actually go to the state mail room, then they get sorted. This means the transcripts can be mixed with mails that go to any other state agencies and there are a lot of them. When I was there both times, there were plenty of people who went there because their transcripts were never received by BRN. I know it's partially my fault because I didn't have the time to chase after BRN because I had other things to worry about in my life.

Hi all,

Just wanted to share my endorsement timeline from Maryland.

7/12/18 - Turned in the online application on Breeze. Had all my college transcripts sent electronically. The Board of Nursing opened both transcripts within a day (confirmed via email). Had livescan done in California.

My payment was processed a couple days later.

8/22/18 - Drove up to BON in Sacramento. They were able to confirm that all documents were received and that they were still working on the June applications but would get to mine within the next 2 weeks.

8/30/18 - License updated on breeze account

Send in all material by mail on 3/28/18 and they didn't deposit or start processing until 4/12/18. I received my rn license via mail on 10/1/18. Hope this helps everyone! Btw, it might be quicker if you do it all online.
