  1. Hi everyone, I just started this process earlier this week. Does anyone know if ONLY the nursing school needs that additional transcript request form? I took my pre-reqs at multiple schools and nursing was my 2nd degree. Doesn't seem like the other schools need the form since it is specific to nursing, but please let me know otherwise. If anyone else has any questions I will also be glad to answer as I'm in the process currently.
  2. If you receive the good popup an hour after the test, does it change after 24 hours? People have been telling me you can have the bad popup and after 24 hours you get the good one. If you already have the good one does that mean you're set?
  3. Hi everyone, I'm also in the same boat and took the test today. My test shut off at 75 and I got the good pop up an hour after the test. I'm really nervous though as I don't feel I did well. I'm hoping the PVT works! Good luck to everyone.
  4. I submitted my application I believe in December and I received my acceptance early February, which was pretty fast. I believe they do admissions on a rolling basis so I'm not really sure if there's actually an application pool but they probably look at apps separately and admit based on space availability in my opinion so it's better to submit your application early before the deadline. It doesn't cost anything to actually submit the application so it doesn't hurt to try!
  5. Hi Lynn, Sorry for the late reply. I could not find your 2016 thread so I will reply here. Congrats on your acceptance! I also will be starting the Dix Scholars accelerated program in the Fall :) The app process was pretty painless and I emailed the advisor constantly (she was very helpful). Overall, I'm really looking forward to attending!
  6. Has anyone finished the microbiology course? Just wondering if anyone would like to share their experience.
  7. Hi everyone! Sorry to dig up an old thread but this is the most recent Dix Scholars thread I could find (wasn't able to locate a 2016 thread). I'm applying this year to the Fall 2016 accelerated track 14 month. I was wondering if any of you guys who were accepted would be willing to share your stats with me over pm or on the thread if you're comfortable. I have a few W's on my transcript and on the borderline B- / B this semester for chemistry and was wondering if that will negatively impact my application? I'm going to be taking the remainder of my prereqs at Simmons over the summer. My undergraduate grades are strong but chem is the most recent class I am taking so I don't know if they'll frown on a B-/B. Thank you for the feedback :)
  8. Thanks. I checked a few programs and haven't seen them mention anything about W's so I may give them a call to confirm, and thanks for confirming taking the bio pre-reqs for microbio.
  9. Hi everyone, A little background on me: I finished my undergrad degree with latin honors in 2014 in a humanities major and worked for the family business and some part time public health work the year after graduating. Long story short, I've been looking into a bunch of healthcare careers since that's what I see myself doing in 10 years but never really narrowed it to down to anything specific. My fiance moves to Boston for graduate school so I pick up and go with her. Not such a bad idea since there are a ton of hospitals here and i'm really hoping to get some healthcare experience out here. Originally I wanted to go the pre-med route, and started out this year with Physics and Chem. A RN friend of mine suggested I look into nursing, so I looked into a few accelerated nursing programs here and they all look very promising and a good fit for my personality. Nurse practitioner looks like something I really want to aspire to someday and I have a lot of respect for the RNs who took care of my grandparents during their cancer treatment. My dilemma is that I'm not doing too well in my physics course, probably because the subject is so novel and this is the first math heavy science course I've taken since high school. I'm just wondering if it's horrible to drop it and its lab component for 2 W's (4 units total)? I checked with the accelerated nursing programs I plan on applying to and physics is not listed as a pre-requisite course, but I'm worried it will set off some red flags. I just don't think a C in a class that is unrelated to my pre-reqs is worth ruining my science gpa. Does anyone have any experience on this? I'm really leaning toward dropping the course and focusing on gaining volunteer experience and prepping for anatomy and my nursing pre-reqs. Also, microbiology is listed as a pre-req for many schools but not biology. Do they assume you will take biology 1 and 2 prior to microbio? Thank you!
