Cal State San Marcos, CSUSM, Accelerated, ABSN 2011

Published

Anyone planning on applying to the Spring 2011, CSUSM, accelerated ABSN program? Just wondering if there is anyone else out there:)

I'll think good thoughts for you, Sarah-V. :) I'm pretty worried because I didn't do so well when I first went to college. I ended up taking a break for a few years and then went back - getting great grades. Two classes from my first round of college dropped my nursing core GPA, then my GPA for the last 60 units dropped a bit from my cumulative because I had kids! I went into this thing thinking my score was going to be pretty high, but I don't think that's the case anymore. I sat down to try to figure it all out, but with the quarter system at UCSD, I got a headached starting to do all the conversions... Ugh!

happyhanks! ha! we are exactly alike. Your story is mine:) My parents made me go to college. I was pre-nursing, but wasn't up for it at 19, so I changed my major to ART. I got a BA from SDSU, but lets just say I wasn't the greatest artist :) Mainly my grades dropped at the end because of kids and life was getting in the way. My last 60 units isn't that great and my core stinks from the English and Comm. classes that I took in 1999. But i did ok on the TEAS and got A's in all the sciences and maths and psy.s, so hopefully they are good to me and let me in. I qualify, but my art classes and english and comm classes hurt my GPA. If i took them now I am sure they would be easy A's. Doesn't it suck when the past comes back to bite:)

Sarah-V, I feel ya! I just hope our points are still competitive. Do you know anybody that has gotten acceptance for Spring 2011?

They said first round of acceptances for Spring 2011 will be at the end of September, then so on. I am going to start looking for mine (fingers crossed) around end of October, beginning November. Are you all done with the Core classes and the TEAS? (they changed the rule of accepting IP classes) I hope we both get in. Let's stay in touch.

Sarah-V, you seem to have gotten more information than I was able to! I hope you don't mind all my questions...How do the rounds actually work? Will they offer all the spots in the first round and then offer the seats that weren't accepted in the second round?

I'm not done with my core. I'm taking Anatomy this term, but I'm done with the rest of my core. I took my TEAS and was very happy with my score - I think it will round out my GPA to make my overall points about average. I didn't see a change for the IP units! What was the change?? And how are you so sure you won't be in the first round?

I don't know if they offer all the seats in the first set of acceptances. They take 54 at each location, so that is 108 students for Spring. But i remember for Fall, they would send the top applicants letters first, then another batch went out a couple weeks later and so on. When they said they were starting the point system they wouldn't accept IP because they couldn't rank your points with anything IP. But all that needs done is the CORE, not all the other BRN and other upper Division classes. You might want to ask them if you will be considered for Spring with Anatomy IP.

I don't think I will be in the first round because I don't have a high point ranking. If it is my guess those in the mid thirties will be ranked as "high," but that's just my perspective and guess. No one told me that.

Hi everyone!

Does anyone know if CSUSM will have a fall 11' cohort as well? I thought they only do spring admission but apparently they added the fall 10'..congrats to those of you who made it in btw.

Hey Everyone.. I applied for Spring 2011 has anyone gotten any news from San Marcos or heard anything? I am in the process of moving and have been having a lot of trouble getting my mail. Thanks!

I haven't heard anything, but I won't until my anatomy class is finished mid-December! Sorry I'm no help. Good luck!

Actually one of the advisors emailed me today and said that they will be sending out the first round of acceptance letters in the next couple of weeks... Good luck everyone!

Oh, hopefully good news for you all! For those of us that will be finished with their nursing core this semester, my adviser said that we'll get a letter when the official transcript is received. The secretary told me that if my score is good so far, I'll receive a conditional acceptance letter, but my adviser said that they don't do that so we'll see what happens. If I get one, then I'll post it so that everyone knows conditional acceptance exists... Good luck!

Stay tuned...

We will post the data of prior cohorts. A 52 pointer doesn't exist! We, evaluators remain objective and rely entirely on our non-biased point system.

We admit on a rolling basis, as stated on our website: CSUSM: How to Apply

We can't wait to meet all qualified candidates.
