My friend and I applied to the nursing program at Cal State East Bay for Fall 2010 and she received her conditional acceptance package to the nursing program today. I on the other hand have only received an email (last week) requesting transcripts for the nursing department even though my application went in before hers. On the website it says that throughout December they will be emailing out requests for transcripts, not acceptance packages, so I was just wondering if I should be worried. Has anybody else received an acceptance or conditional acceptance package?
Has anyone finished the 2 part ppd testing yet? I know we have to get 2 tests done within 2 weeks of each other but does that mean between the "date given" or the "date read".
I just got my first test read yesterday and I was wondering if I could just do another test next week without waiting longer.
and for the vaccines/titers. Do we have to have a positive test and a vaccine for each of those requirements?
I never had the varicella vaccine but I had chicken poxs as a child so I was wondering if a postive titer for that would be sufficient.
Hi everyone,
I'm glad I found this thread. I got my acceptance letter a while ago but just found you all. Are any of you in the same situation that I am? I've been accepted into the nursing program and the Concord Campus but I haven't been accepted into CSUEB yet. They are still waiting for my final transcript from this semester to come out. I can't get access to any class schedules or anything yet. I'm wondering if it is also hampering any financial aid. Any of you in this same situation?
This is a 2nd BSN for me so I'm worried that due to budget cuts or something they won't let me into the university even though I'm in the nursing program. I'm hesitant to start paying for the background check et. al. before I know if I'm in the university. Just crazy!
BTW, for the guy from Santa Cruz. You might want to look for an apt. off of South Main St. in Walnut Creek also. There are a ton of large apt. complexes in that area and I think a lot of students and singles live in that area. Parking isn't good but it's a nice, safe area near downtown and the freeway. Also, Pleasant Hill near where Paganoid lives is also a good area. There is a junior college in the area and there are a lot of reasonable complexes around there. Pleasant Hill (up in the hills and downtown) are very nice and has nice shopping and restaurants. Not quite as upscale as Walnut Creek but nice. It is about 20-25 minutes from campus though.
Realistically you will need a car for the Concord campus. Not only is it far from the freeway, it is far from everything. Ygnacio Valley Rd takes you way out to the suburbs from downtown Walnut Creek, then the campus is way off of Ygnacio surrounded by cow pastures and open fields. There is nothing around it and very little services on campus. According to "Pag" there is bus service but I would think it's limited due to how far out there it is and probably just takes you back to downtown WC and/or a couple of other routes. It is the suburbs out there and due to budget cutbacks I'd assume services are being cut back out there. I would doubt it would connect the campus directly or even indirectly to where you are living and/or any of our clinicals locations.
San Francisco has a fantastic public transit system and BART is fantastic but Contra Costa County is really spread out and does not necessarily have a great system outside of what is directly adjacent to BART. I would strongly suggest having reliable transportation because you might end up having clinicals in say, Children's Hospital in downtown Oakland and commute in heavy traffic and you want a good car for it.
Just my $.02
Thank you Brighten and Jennafezz! I tried it on Safari and it printed out just fine.
Blitz,
Thanks for the info. I'm the one from Santa Cruz. I just visited the campus last weekend and I realized that I will definitely need a car. Still not sure where I will be living, but it seems that there are plenty of good options.
About your admissions status, I would check with the office of admission and the nursing department before you start paying for the background check, etc. if you are concerned. They sent me a letter offering conditional acceptance to the university way back in November, however I don't already have a bachelor's degree.
At this point all offers from the university and the nursing school are "conditional" because they still need to see our final official transcripts.
I hope everything works out!

Yeah, you can tell the difference between Concord and Hayward because Concord has a "C" in the course number/section thing and Hayward has an H.
