Hello EVERYONE! I hope that I'm in the right spot to post this but, has anyone heard of the CAAN Academy of Nursing in Matteson, IL.? Also called The Coalition of African American Nurses. It's an LPN school.
Or better yet, has anyone attended there? They had sent me an email regarding enrollment, but there is no information regarding tuition, and the numbers listed are either invalid or an answering machine -which doesn't even provide office hours.
I would just like to find out everything and anything I can about this school, so I know all of my options.
THANK YOU MUCH! :)

This site has a phone number, perhaps it is different than the one you have. It also indicates that it has three employees...I don't know the date of the report.
Illinois has a list of nursing schools, it is listed there; it is the only one without a web address.
Have you looked into Prairie state or Joliet Junior College?

I received an email from them too. I requested info several months ago, but they are just coming out with their adult program. They have been doing the LPN program through the high school. I don't really have any other information other than what is posted on their website.

I contacted CAAN in January, 2009 and have yet to hear about the start up of their RN program. I was told, by the owner/representative, the RN program would start in April, 2009. No phone call or update as of today. I hope the program does well.

Caan has a new lpn program starting in August 2010. I took the entrance exam test to get in and did good I also interviewed with the DON now I'am patiently waiting to find out if I got in or not.
What is CAAN's phone number? Best wishes with acceptance and completion of the program. Also, how much is tuition and the length of the program?
Their number is 7089831616 or 7089831645 the length of the program is 15 months.
Thank you very much. The Nursing program at Olive Harvey and Kennedy King College has closed its doors. We first year and senior students are being reassigned to Daley, Malcolm X, or Truman. We found out 7 days before class start; students must uproot their lives, revise work and child care schedules in addition to consider longer transportation time to each one of the aforementioned colleges. This is the worst of the worst.
I feel betrayed and as if this was an ill-thought poor decision on behalf of incompetent individuals whom could care less about what turmoil we now face. Sad, so sad.

I can't believe this! Didn't they just get amnesty from taking that awful Hesi exam? I can't believe they would give their students a pitiful 7 day notice that they are shuttering their program.
yes, they recv.'d amnesty. 1st year students did well on the HESI.
