CA RN on probation, BRN pending RN position

Published

I was recently placed on probation early this year and my RN position is pending approval. Per my probation officer, it will take up to 3 weeks or more. It's almost 3 months and she still states "it will take 3 weeks or more". It's frustrating because I feel like they lost my paperwork or something. Does anyone know how long it typically take for the BRN to approve RN position? I live in CA. Thank you

Go to a nurse support group to find MDs who are known to provide disability

can get it for anxiety, depression, etc

Okay, thank you

Hello, my probation officer hasn't responded to my emails for 3 weeks now. Is there anyone else I can contact?

Can Contact his/her  manager

If you are in California, the Probation manager should be either (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) or (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME)

Hello,

It has been over 4 months now and I am still waiting for approval of my position. Even my lawyer has contacted my probation officer and still with the same answer "short staffed, no updates". At this point, this is some BS. I understand they are short staff but every facility in the country involving nurses are short staff. It doesn't mean they can use that as an excuse. I don't know what other options I have at this point. It's very frustrating and unfair.

I'm sorry to hear that, it definitely sounds frustrating. Can you apply for disability? Just a thought. Hang in there and best of luck

Is this for a new RN position or one that you already held?

I'm not sure. Wouldn't that require me to be diagnosed?

it's fairly easy to get disability for anxiety or depression (in CA), they often go hand in hand with substance use. It merely takes knowing which providers are more apt to recommend it. Nursing support groups should have info on which providers to go to

It has been 2.5 months for me. I'm concerned that the new position I got (at some considerable effort) will get tired of waiting. Is this wait time true for everyone or is it situational?

I've waited about 3 weeks for 2 different jobs. This was in 2021 so a bit ago.

Hi, I waited about three months. I just got approved to work in June, 2023. Hopefully, they will wait for you.!! I was lucky the DON was very understanding. Good luck.
