Whats the best assessment for a student complaining of chest pain? I always ask if they have a cold or been coughing a lot or if it is heart burn. If they say no to either I check their HR and BP and do a visual assessment to see if they are faint or sweating. Is there anything else that I am missing?
my specialty in the "before life" was trauma and orthopedics - i always am glad to learn from someone with a lot more know power!!
I was thinking the same thing. You have to be able to know a lot of stuff to be a cardiac nurse. The only rhythm I can read is asystole; sometimes. That really is a good assessment overview Mr. Thanks
And then again, quite often the pain is just a "wandering fart."My students have lunch, then recess. They act like wild animals after eating, then wonder why they are uncomfortable...
Truth.
Kids are surprised - especially the girls, everyone farts, ladies - when I suggest going into my bathroom and seeing if they need to expel gas. Oddly enough, when I used to work with elementary kids, they jumped at the chance to let one rip (boys and girls!), but the MS and HS kids...nope.

I would love to be right next to a DD, and I don't drink coffee. Glad I'm not, but I can dream.
