Specializes in ER/Ortho.

I had two major tests, a major care plan term paper, two minor care plans, 10 hours in the cardiac cath lab, 5 hours of lecture, and a 3 hour in skills lab this week, and I am BURNED OUT.

Specializes in Med/Surg, ICU.

I've been skipping my non-nursing classes, and getting the assignments for those non-nursng classes from other students, then turning them in via email to cut down on the time I have to be at the school. Not to mention my HORRID clinical experience this week. I don't know about "burned out", but I'm definitely exhausted.:smilecoffeeIlovecof

Specializes in LTC.

My instructor told us not to host thanksgiving at our house because we have two exams back to back right after thanksgiving break. So I plan on using my days off from work, to do some serious studying !!!! My real break will be after Dec. 10 08 ! I get a winter break from 12/10-1/31, and can't wait !!!!!

Specializes in heart failure and prison.

I am very tired and burned out. I have 3 weeks left until graduation and I am very tired. Hang in their, you will get your second wind. Good luck

I went to the doctors this morning convinced that I was dying of something because I have been SOOO exhausted and gained so much weight since school started. He basically told me... been there, done that, have some coffee. lol He did a full blood work up on me and listened to my heart and every one of my symptoms, but in the end, all that was wrong with me (unless lab results say otherwise) is that I am pushing myself to the limits. He also told me that it seems insurmountable now and he can sympathize with how tough it is, but once its all over, I'll be amazed at how much time I have on my hands.

I love my doctor. :) I feel all pumped up and recharged after going in.

Specializes in ED, ICU, MS/MT, PCU, CM, House Sup, Frontline mgr.

no, not burned out though i should be. i have been working, studying, finishing end of semester projects, taking exams, attending classes and clinicals, participating in extracurricular activities (to include child functions), and going on job interviews non-stop this semester.

i think the reason i have not burned out is because this semester, unlike the others, i see the light at the end of the tunnel!!! i no longer care that i am tired... i no longer care that i lack sleep.... i no longer care that some of my instructors and the nurses on the floors are insane! .... i no longer care that there is one extra thing they forgot to mention that we need to do to complete the semester... this time getting everything done right means i will graduate!

on the other hand, my next stressful career transition includes becoming a new grad and passing the nclex. preparing for those might burn me out.

-4th semester student :nurse:

ps. yes, i am ready for thanksgiving break. however, i will be working, making the dinner, and studying during that time too so like many of you i actually will not have a break.

not sure about burned out but only 4 more days of clinical and then its time for exams.

Specializes in Acute Care of the Elderly.

Yes I'm burned out! All I think about everyday is that I graduate in May:nuke: I'm definitely ready for next week when I can mentally check out

PS. Yes, I am ready for Thanksgiving break. However, I will be working, making the dinner, and studying during that time too so like many of you I actually will not have a break.

I get 1 day off for Thanksgiving, and on that day we feast (and I cook it). SO I hear ya there tenfold. I am working Friday in order to get Thanksgiving off, and then working Sat/Sun as usual so no days off for me. I'm excited about the light workload that is a precursor to Thanksgiving but it just means I have a big exam to study for this weekend AND a clinical paper to write that are both due Monday. I guess my instructors did not want any work for the thanksgiving holiday or something so for that atleast I am thankful. More time to study for that next test.

Chalk me up as being burned out. It never fails, I ALWAYS burn out the last three weeks of a semester.
